Lightning Sorc w/ resis probs.

Hello everyone,

I've been building a lightning sorc for a while.. and this is my first decent character, and im hoping to keep it. Lately ive been having problems in hell, mainly because of damage issues... so i invested in some and got some new gears. Now im having resist probs...
I'm hoping you guys can point me the right gear to solve this problem...

Merc is messed up (started wayy late, but is equipped with insight, but keeps dying. Has Natalyas helm (For the insight strength req. lol) and Haemosu's curass.

Stat wise, theres nothing i can really do - the sorc is level 90, with 10 spare points and, 2 skill points remaining.
maxed out on CB, Lightning, CLightning, and currently working on Nova..
I recently put in 1 on energy shield because i keep dying while teleing during runs.

Strength: 63
Dex: 92
Vit: 357
Energy: base.


Now heres the problem. First i only dealt around 8k dam at most, so i changed my items a bit to get 12k dam. But because i took off my wizzspike for eschutas, i now have 75% less resis.
I ended up with -37 all except lightning, which is around 35...

Heres my current set:

HEAD: 112 Shako
AMU: rare w/ 1+ sorc skill, with 31% light resis and rest minor 5% resis
ARMOR: Vipermagi 27% resis
WEAPON: Eschutas
GLOVES: Magefist
BELT: Tals
SHIELD: lidless
RINGS: 2 Nagels
FOOT: rare with 30% f.r.s, 25% MF and 39% lightning resis.

I know most of the gear is pretty awkward... but im looking for max lightning dam (which means 1+ skills and lightning dam added) with some MF, but getting enough resis to be pretty comfortable in hell.

I want to keep Eschutas, Shako and Magefist (but suggestions are always welcome), and i believe vipermagi as well for its resis.. looking for better amu, belt, shield and foot gear?

And as a forewarning - I'm not rich, and this is only my 2nd char ever. (1st one is now permanently a mule) so please be easy with the items for suggestions.

Highest rune i have is a fal(x2) and 3 kos. around 50+ pgems and bunch of random uniq items. Have few GC's that are probably worth lem or more (+ skill charms)

Does Sorc Torch come with + resis?

To answer the last part of your question, yes the STorch comes with 10-20 resist all, as does Anni. However, I'm not sure you can afford either.

I would recommend a spirit shield for any sorceress. I always put 156 str when building my sorc, that shield is THE best for a sorceress - +2 all skills, up to 35 fcr, 55 fhr, 35 cold, light & poison resistances, up to 112 mana and 22 vitality. The 22 vitality makes up 22 stat points, the mana can make up for some stat points (especially if you are an ES sorc).
But, in your case, you don't have the strength for spirit, so a (kind of) quick fix would be socketing your equipment and puting a Ral in your shako,vipermagi & lidless for example, for a total of 105 fire res.
Also, if you have room in your inventory, carry lots of small charms with single res (they have up to 11 resistance to a single element) as these are pretty cheap - and usually pretty easy to find - just remember not to throw them away if you find one with good res.
Perhaps use 2 rings with resistances, and maybe a better amu, perhaps even a shield with 3 pdiamonds or 3 rals or whatever, depending on the enemies, and replacing tal's belt for Credendum (set item from the disciple set), because 15 @res are very usefull for survivability, whereas an extra 15 mf can be had from 2-3 small charms. Don't know what price for Credendum but i think it should be really cheap. Magefists can be replaced with Trang Gloves, you don't lose any FCR but gain 20 cold res, and i think they are also pretty cheap. Also, a torch and anni, as mentioned by others, which can give you up to 40 resistances.

U could change Lidless 4 a Spirit shield and Eschutas 4 Occy. Farm 4 some resists SCs and u will be ok. Here is my temp setup (not even close to the final version):

FCR rings with resists and life

Got some scs and lcs with resists. No skillers, and a wizzy on switch makes me tele around totally safe (80 75 50 75 resists)... rly looking 4 torch, anni and skillers...

I am at lvl 75, bugging meph, 9k dmg on lightning. Its a damn good build, but need the right gear to work (only* 2 bers...) .

Another option would be to swap out your Lidless for a Moser's Blessed Circle socketed with 2 PDiamonds. You'd lose some FCR and +1 to skills, but you'd gain +63 resist all.

are you playing ladder or non-ladder? spirit could be expensive if is non-ladder. but it doesnt matter, not like you have the str to use one anyway. I really like the moser's circle suggestion from previous post, that's a great idea. for the mean time, you can probably also socket a Pdiamond in ur lidless. that helps abit....

spirit is out of the question. Dont have the strength and not worth trying to scrap up the points..

I am intrigued by the moser's blessed circle, will look into that.
as to trading occy for my eschutas, out of the question, as it provides the 3+ skill as well as 18% extra lighnting dam and FCR, i dont see the point.

will look into the crendum, thanks for the suggestion.

Get rid of the Lidless for a Mosers like has been suggested. Start gambling Rings and replace the Nagels with some rings with resistances.

It also helps if you tell us what you're using the character for, as in some areas you'll need more of certain resists than others usually.

I was talking about resists... u *would* use spirit, ur dmg wouldnt drop much.

I would recommened a spirit monarch, mosers with perfect diamond, or even a "The Ward" shield which can get you upto 50 all res (69 if diamond'ed). Its a pity that you have somewhat low str to actually attempt using a spirit. Even a suggested Credendum may be too heavy in terms of str for you. If you insist, even a perfect diamond in a lidless can be useful. You could use an upp'ed nightsmoke if you're in a pinch.

On your weapon, switch to Occy or stick to Wizzy. It has already been suggested that survivability is key to pretty much everything and I tend to agree here. Getting a better res for your Vipermagi is an obvious suggestion, as is a mahim or saracens chance for an amulet.

If you want to maintain the FCR then switch your gloves into trangs which give you a nice 30% cold res.

You've gone for MF rings so switch one that gives you res / stats / life etc.

Other then that your merc should have some sort of life leech. Tals Helm, Steal Skull, Vampires Gaze, Andariels Face can all work here since your weap is tied up with an insight.

other then that I would go for the aforementioned charms of res too,.

use tal set, spirit monarch, mayb anni and torch to help max resis, you might have psn resis problems, just put on sandstorm
