Light sorc question

First time posting here, pretty excited.

Anyway, My brother made a light sorc, and he has pretty good gear, perfect griff, perfect light estch orb, coh, mara's, sojs, anni, torch, and couple Light gcs.
How come he's only doing 25k dmg? we both heard many people say they had reached 52k or what not... does he has to max out ALL synergies to reach that? he's atm level 80 with no quests done, so he's maxed out all except for nova, so would he be able to increase his dmg by 30k by simply maxing out nova as a synergy?

Yes you have to max out those synergies to get the kind of numbers your posting. Even with that gear your brother is only lvl 80 so he's got 19+ skill points left that he can use to put in the last synergy for lightning. There's no way Blizz would allow a lvl 80 even with super gear to hit for 35-40k plus in lightning.

P.s. my bearsorc hits 70k dmg @ level 80 (dual dreams); they are kinda fun, should try them out!
