First of all, how do you smite? Do you always just smite, and never actually use your weapon? (sorry, I never made one before). Also does each person in a party need life tap, or does it work for all in party once activated? thanks for any info

As to life tap, it's a necro curse. Anyone physically attacking a monster cursed with life tap will benefit from the curse. Being partied has no bearing on that.

smite uses the paladin's shield to stun and damage an enemy. It always hits the target so attack rating is not an issue, it doesn't use the physical damage of your weapon, but it does damage your weapon so you'll hafta repair it and it'll use the mods on your weapon- i.e. crushing blow and ctc's like life tap (not open wounds though, not completely sure though). life tap is a curse that is placed on a monster; any character attacking a monster with this curse on it (physically attacks it) gets healed 50% of attack damage. This question might be better suited in the paladin forums..
