    LF and Pierce?

How important is pierce to fully utilize lightning fury?
I"m gonna pvp more often than pvm so not sure if it's worth the investment. Even at 1 pt. Little advice...

Pierce is a very important skill to LF. With just LF you hit, then it expands once... with Pierce you can hit many times, and one LF can whipe out a dozen guys in an 8 player chaos game. Pierce is a very good skill to utilize, but to a certain point, and maybe with +skills one point might be enough

    Lol.

LF is essentially auto-hit. There is no attack rating associated with LF, so you don't even need that one point in Penetrate for your LF to hit (same goes for PvM). There are other reasons for getting Penetrate, however.

My bad... meant to say pierce in original post. Anyways, do the bolts from LF continue to split over and over as long as they successfully pierce?

How 'bout deleting my first reply while you're at it.

As long as the original thrown javalin/bolt/whateveryouwannacallit continues piercing, yes, it will release more and more bolts.

A good rule of thumb is if you use equipment with pierce (e.g. razortail), then 1 point is enough. If you do not use pierce equipment (e.g. Tgods), 5 points into Pierce is perfect. Five points with minimal +gear will put you near 70%, which is good. Average gear will put you closer to 75%-80%, which is what you should aim for. Perfect gear will put you above 80%, where diminishing returns will start to hit you hard and additional points are usually better spent elsewhere.

The reason why 5 is a perfect amount is that with your beginner's gear, you'll have the necessary pierce to be proficient enough at kill to obtain better gear, eventually putting you in the 80% range, which is where you want to end up.

I have another question. Does each subsequent bolt also carry the original physical damage?

it should carry the LF skill damage (not what your original weapon damage is). Right now I have a javazon with 24 skill in LF (due to weapon/ armor bonue) that states that the original bolt breaks into 26 (?) bolts and does 1-800+ damage. But I have yet to see all those bolts shooting in every direction, but it does not matter, everything is dead :)
