leveling tips

hi all.

ive played this game on and off now for a few years but for some reason or another dont seem to play consistently over this period of time and end up loosing my accounts.

ive started up again and hope to soon be at the mighty matriarch lvl kickin baal all over the place. But i need to lvl quickly. From what i remember i start out as normal till trist then do some trist runs till about lvl 12, then some tomb runs till about lvl 18 then flayer with someone at high lvl then cow. But im in cow at the moment and lvling is very poor.

what lvl am i supposed to start cowing? and what lvl am i supposed to leave cow to do a few frigid highlands and some baal runs on norm.

Do Tomb runs from 18-21 (Tomb of Tal rasha and all the fake ones)

From 21-24 do cows.

at 25 Ancients.

From this point on all you need is Baal.

Just his minions, to be precise. If you kill Baal, you will skip to the next difficulty and not be able to see the games of the previous difficulty level anymore.

Since the release of the 1.10 patch, I have never needed any "levelling up" at all. I simply do full clears on every area once, then move on. Keeps me at a high enough level.

?

You can create games in any difficulty level that you have completed.

You can still create or join games of any difficulty, but if you want to join a game, only those of your current difficulty level are displayed while you don't know the names of the other ones.

what i normally do is if i wanna play normal again, i use my mule or a char on normal to login, then memorize the name of the game u want to go in, then login using ur char that u originally want to play with :)
that takes too much time though lol

Cut and Paste works well also.

cut and paste?
can u do that in bnet games?
i'm not so sure on this one.
yes you can.

what works better for me than tomb runs is just killing all the lightning bugs (scarubs) outside the tombs then starting a new game. they die fast and give a lot of exp

Cut and paste does work while you are in a channel, but not while you are in a game, just like the /r command... quite a nuisance IMO.

Or did I miss something ?

Not a bad idea! Thing is, most lower level chars have none/very little light res. I don't know what kind of damage those light bugs do but isn't that a problem?

cheers people. the lightning bugs(scarebs) are a bad idea if your a sorc. generally at this point in the game i dont have much resist and not much vit. Hence when i c them i run or tele ma ass out of there.

i always have full sigs on new characters and that seems to do the trick. i go through about 1 or 2 health pots per pack. but i generally gain 2-3 lvls per game when i start the runs (usually around lvl 12). later it takes about 2 or 3 runs to lvl as i reach 20.

It´s easy to get the lightning resist up well over 50% just by gambling/shopping some nice gloves/belt/boots/shield...

not when u start on a new realm it isnt' easy to get any resists high unless some alright rare low lvl item drops which dont have much chance early on. And its also hard to even get the money to gamble for items as money is a bit of a problem early on i think.

I disagree. You can buy all those four item types I mentioned from Fara/Elzix/Drognan, and they cost a couple of thousand, tops. They can all have Coral (up to 30% lightning resist). Once you get the Cube and reach level 24 (opening up the possibility that a jewelry piece can get Coral/Cobalt/Garnet), you can start to cube all the crappy rings and amulets you´ve saved (and continue to find) and will most likely get some decent resist ones.

If you don´t buy/gamble a resist shield, you can simply buy a 3s shield from Fara and put some gems in it. Chipped topazes/rubies/sapphires give 12% to one resist, and chipped diamonds 6% resist all.

It´s not hard if you put some effort into it.
