Check the forum that is specific to the char that you want to make. You will find many different guides there and it is probably your best bet.

there's a chart that's specific to leveling experience. like if you're lvl 22, you'll get the most exp in nightmare act 1.3, or whatever it is.

There is this chart in the DiabloII.net Strategy Compendium. Hope it helps.

I truly love that chart, makes my head spin.

All the colours in it, Beautiful.

Bt it does help you out a lot in lvling at the right places. Just used it to get my druid to lvl 80. (Finally) And it does work. I'm just wondering in act 2 hell right now doing quests and killing monsters.

Thanks. that's what I was looking for. But just to make sure it means what I think it means, does this chart show what area will give you the most experience per kill? Because my new characters are always twinked and can kill and survive a couple acts beyond what the chart shows. So will I get more experience in the lower lvl area, or in the highest I can survive?

And on related question, what's the penalty when partied with a higher character. Like say a friend and I were to level each other's new characters. How far apart can they be and still get good exp for the lower lvl?

the level exp penalty is the same as if you were soloing that same area.
