I personally like the leveling part of the game and I was wondering how would you go about leveling a poisonmancer?

I don't want to start a fishy and then respec once I reach the level requirements for my gear.

I have tons of twinking gear for all stages of my character's development.

How long do I have to wait before I can start using my poison skills to take down enemies?

Any tips and suggestions are welcome ;)

P.S, I've never made a poisonmancer before so this should be a fun challenge!

I made a straight poison skill Necro before. Putting points straight away into Dagger is very powerful on Normal, like 1-shot everything. ;)

I've done this a few times and not really felt the need to play as something else and then respec. Poison does take some time to get going, but if you get some nice mana leech on your gear, you can pretty easily run around stabbing monsters with Poison Dagger until some of them die, then start a Corpse Explosion chain until you run out of mana, then repeat the process. Even if you eventually switch to going Poison Nova full-time, Poison Dagger is a synergy anyway and you can basically start using "poison skills" to take down enemies right away. It's not the fastest, but it's viable even at low levels before synergies and good gear come into play.

I just recently got back to a daggermancer that I'd left in Nightmare for a few years. Swept through the remainder of Nightmare with ease. Currently in Hell Act I and on /players8, Poison Dagger is a one-shot kill on most enemies despite the fact that I've geared the character for physical damage.

Some of the guides and discussion on using poison in Hell might be a bit misleading. Decked out -EPR gear is emphasized, but that's because it's what allows a poisonmancer to break most immunities with Lower Resist and then proceed to still kill monsters quickly with Poison Nova alone. And that's fine, but it's also possible to just kill the broken immunities more slowly, or to use a merc and Corpse Explosion, or to have a melee switch, or to surround them with Revives, or to just use Fleshripper like I'm doing and run around stabbing everything all the time like a maniac. There are a lot of options, really.

echo the pdagger leveling approach. It's plenty powerful through Normal, and then you can start spec'ing the pNova build.
