Level needed for hell ?

Hello,

I'm currently playing a lvl 75 frost paladin with a lvl 75 merc. I've started hell a couple days ago, but I seem to die pretty often, which makes me wonder what I did wrong. Is my build awkward, or is it just too early for me to tackle hell ? It gets messy in the barracks and I can't seem to even reach Andariel alive.

Here are some stats I can remember:
Stats with mods:
Strength: 125
Dex: 110
Vit: 280
En: Whatever

Attack Rating: 2600ish
Armor: 2200ish with Holy Shield, 50% chance to block
Damage: 1200-1800 (including cold damage)


Am I lacking something here ?

How are your resistances? Hell level entails most people to really fill up on resistance charms in order to survive, leaving almost no room to pick up items. Once you get your resistances up to around 75 each your survival will be enhanced. A Pally can use the elemental skill tree ability but then it can't use zeal which means you have to rely on your strength and dexterity to beat enemies. I think that your character has too many points in vitality and not enough in strength and dexterity. Grumpy Old Wiz is right, check out the builds in the forums.

I've actually checked the build and followed it, though it's my first somewhat high-level character and thus my equipment sucks big time. I have a perfect shaftstopper for armor, but that's about it. Using a set mace, a shield socketed with 4 perfect diamonds, and some lower levels items.

My resists are in the 40s for every resist. I have about 1000 HPs, which might be a bit low. I don't understand why my block is so low since my shield has 75% block rate and using lvl 8 Holy Shield.

You should work on getting your resissts higher, that means better gear or using resist gems jewels, etc.

your block is low because you have to keep pumping up your dex as you increase in level to maintain 75% block. there's a penalty built in.

your resists should be fine for act 1-3. you'll want to get them up by act 4 though - especially fire in 4 and lightning in 5.

your gear isn't that great. the best thing to do is build a mf character, necro would be best in your case sense you don't have good gear. and mf until you're sick of it. you'll probably get a few items you can use. and many more that other people can use. then try your luck on the trade forum.
