Should i extend this thought to every site from which you can buy items/runes ? In my utopic innoncent mind, i thought these were a team of friends who accumulate nice wealth together and sold it for pocket money. Are they all dupe or bot users ?

In order to make a decent profit, splitting it over the number of people neccisary for the task of aquiring all the wealth won't help. Most likely these sites are run by two or three people, each with several cd-keys, a working dupe method and bots. I know of at least one duping method whic was sold for $10.000... it was in an article written by a woman nicknamed "Morgana" who was part of a group of hackers.. but the article was pulled down within a week of publishing by her again from dii.net.

So yeah, its all duping scum.

There always has been and always will be a working dupe... Thing is those ones that always have one dont advertise it so it can be stopped easily. "In most cases" these types of people also dont "show" thier abilitys by duping to the max for days and then selling things for weeks they do it more smartly thus minimally influencing the game.

Hell frankly I have conceeded the dupes.....they will always be here, Blizz cant and wont stop them all, but they can and also wont stop several other things they have full power to do and these things are much more damaging to the game like TPPK........

In S1 1.10 Hammers were killing for TPPK early, and were stopped so fast that my eyes widdened, my ears perked and a big ole fat smile nearly decapped myself as it really looked like Blizz was going to finally put an end to this bull****......then they didint do anything else.

The DC/UD thing to burn up SOJs is/was a good idea, it did/does burn up many of the duped SOJs but it does encourage duping also, but when they duped they risk being caught so it is sort of a ploy to draw them out also but I am not sure Blizz takes full advantage of this as I am sure thier manpower isnt focued onthis game...Diablo as it exists is simply "a carrot held in front of a donkey" to get people to stay as long as they can with minimal investment so when D3 hits they have big time word of mouth free advertising.

May the illegit burn!!!

"Hee Haw!!!"

*slaps hoof over mouth*

Dupes?...beyond caring....as long as they don't adjust the game to compensate for all the duped items it won't affect my play....

to respond to the original question, I consider the rune itself to be legit (in that it isn't duped and won't disappear during the next rust storm), but the method of obtaining it is certainly not legit.

^ i completely agree with waflob. The rune is legit, it dropped from a creature in a game, and was not duped or hacked in (i.e. "created" by a gamer). Same goes with the anni question. However, the method for obtaining it is not legit, as waflob says. I don't agree with botting/duping/hacking/etc, don't agree with mh even, but i think that the item would still be technically considered "legitimate", because it is an authentic game item. it's just not kosher :p

Trading for botted items encourages botters and contributes to the skewing of the economy that is caused by those botters.

As has been said, in my mind, the rune is legit, the method of obtaining it is not.

Any item that dropped from a monster (not an item that could drop) is legit. Its like saying someone tppk'd and got an ear from it. Is that particular ear not legit? The ear is an ear, the method of obtaining the ear is what causes it to lose its value.

Unless Blizzard steps in a bans botters, trading for anything at all from someone you don't know brings with it a chance of the item being a dupe/found by a botter. Too many ethical questions, single player d2 for the win!

Or, in my case, just play WoW and enjoy a game that blizzard still takes an active interest in keeping legit.

WoW takes up too much life. You need a symbiotic twin to play it properly.
If, however, they used teleporting through waypoints as in D2 rather than flightpaths, well, that would be a start!

Everyone knows bots don't exist. It's just one person playing on several computers at the same time using a special keyboard that brings together the keyboards of several computers so that each finger-digit is able to completely control a character.

Yeah.

No, that one keyboard actually controls all the computers at once! That's why Pindle is so popular - His map is always the same! Keep the bank of monitors right nearby, so you can press Alt and look for gold lettering... you can pindle dozens of characters easily like this!

..... New method... oooh... I should try it! Anyone got a spare computer/cdkey they can lend me?

I think people should only use stuff Charsi sells. This way, it's fair competition for everyone!

For a second there I thought I had sat down at my computer and entered a time vortex that sent me back a year.

Yeah, I'm tired...
