Last Wish - Worthwhile?

Just curious really, but with keysets and organs being traded around through the new ladder, I've decided to create an Uber Smiter/Zealot for taking out dclone/mini ubers and the big 3.

I've made a Zealot before with Grief/eBotd and he could take them with 1 pt Smite, though it did take a little while longer because he was suited more to PVM with Zeal.

Now, I've taken another gander at the runewords that Ladder has to offer and came across Last Wish. I've seen it being thrown around last Ladder season but didn't get a chance to test it out. From what I can see it is ridiculously expensive - but is it worth it?

Upon first looking at it, it has some extremely useful mods -

Last Wish
Jah - Mal - Jah - Sur - Jah - Ber
6% Chance To Cast Level 11 Fade When Struck
10% Chance To Cast Level 18 Life Tap On Striking
20% Chance To Cast Level 20 Charged Bolt On Attack
Level 17 Might Aura When Equipped
+330-375% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Ignore Target's Defense
60-70% Chance of Crushing Blow (varies)
Prevent Monster Heal
Hit Blinds Target
+(0.5 per character level) 0.5-49.5% Chance of Getting Magic Items (Based on Character Level)

There's a lot to like about it, but without any experience, I don't really know if it's worth the trouble of making. I know for one thing it doesn't have any IAS - is this why people make it in a Phase Blade instead of a Zerker? I also know that repairing runewords is ridiculous, so a Phase Blade (which has no durability) would probably be best for it still.

Just wanted to know what other people think about this runeword. Is it worth it, or is it overrated?

I use a Grief/Last Wish phaseblades combo on a frenzy barbarian of mine, and the Last Wish has such great mods at work, and ctc's to die for. Life tap casts every 5 seconds it seems, fade, my favorite defensive proc, is priceless when ubering (I think it's 56 all resist and ~16% damage reduction at that level), might gives you that extra kick, and the crushing blow is amazing.

In my situation for a frenzy barb, the main hand weapon's IAS is the only taken into account, so my 39% grief goes in my main hand, and it deals most of the damage. Last Wish is sort of my casting/support weapon... until Ubers. with gores i have 85% crushing blow every time i swing the Last Wish, so I can just watch chunks leaving the Ubers' life bars.

The only concern I would have is with normal PvM the Last Wish has rather low damage (if in a phase blade) but it's extremely efficient versus bosses. Crushing blow is most effective with low damage weapons, so this is a prime example of getting every bit out of your crushing blow.. Somewhere in the stats forum is an indepth look at crushing blow if you're interested in searching.

My overall experience with Last Wish: I love it. possibly my favorite melee weapon I use. Especially on Non Ladder where i play, it's a special piece.

IMO not worth it at all. I think theres a thread called something like "Grief vs Last Wish" here in the pally forums. In any event, Grief is better for allround PvM, and with gores, draculs and guillaumes face, you have all the life tap/CB(50%) you need. With my current ubersmiter (just started this ladder) i run with those three items together with Duress(15%cb) and a 2shael'd heavens light (33%cb) = 98%cb total. Works great, dont even have to drink potions in ut.

Unfortunately I tried searching for "Last Wish" but came up with zero (or too much of a broad range) of results. I'll have to keep looking for that thread.

In the meantime though - as good as it looks, the price for these runes are just too high right now to even consider making one. The main reason I had for thinking of it was to save up on room for other equips - such as a CoA instead of Guil's face. But for now, I think I'd be much better off with a Grief just to save on costs. In the future I may consider trying it out, but until then Grief should do the job.

grief is much better value especialy for so early in ladder. but when you have the wealth i would recomend trying it, for killing bosses/ubers it rocks. althhough for the other 99% of monsters grief is better
