So yesterday was the big day that everyone at work got to find out if their job was safe or not. Since I am going back to school in the fall, I took my boss aside 2 weeks ago to let him know that if he had to choose between someone with a family and a mortgage payment or myself, letting me go would be ok with me.
Yesterday he took me into the conference room and told me the company decided to cut my job. Yes I got what I wanted, but it was a tough pill to swallow. Granted I have a plan, but it was still tough to know soon I will be out of a job. I got a package that will help a long way in graduate school.
But it was definitely very tough to see other people get let go when they did not see it coming. They laid off very good engineers that have been working for the same company for over 30 years. Some people looked devastated.
