Ladder reset Bone necro?

Hey guys ive been looking around chars that are going to be used for the ladder reset and the characters i see alot are, sorc, summoners, javzons, and some others. I was thinking about playing as a bone necro, im not going to have alot of +1 to skill items because i probably wont mf alot in the begining. It is also hard to get high dmg with bone necros at low levels, any thoughts?

make the bone necro as a secondary character. you will need a character that can solo/mf to find gear for said secondary character. :wink3:

I would say bone necros are reliant on at least a +3 bone spear wand. if you can pump str you can get a spirit shield and thats a pretty good bone spear score right there.

The thing is, having the utility of a support character (bo barb or conv pala) and the versatility of a teleporter (sorc) is hard to beat for general uses. So most people start with characters like that.

I personally love bone necros, but they arent as versatile as barbs or sorcs. They can mf (however), especially if youre into area clearing. And they are almost ideal for CS running imo because there are never magic immunes there, and theres a boss at the end.

Plus theyre resistant to physical damage, good CC, good kill power. Just kinda tough to start em out from untwinked.

Well i guess ill just use it as my second char, I have never used a barb, how do i start HC ladder with a barb, or even a javazon? Will the the Barb be dependent on gear? i havent rilly used a meele char b4, any thoughts on that?

Well barbs can be tough but with alot of the 1.10 runewords you can make a passable weapon with things as low as fal. The thing about barbs though is that they are very reliant on gear to be able to solo well. Why most people make them is because everyone wants a battle orders, specially sorcs who are teleporting to baal. Thats where their value lies.

Javazons are easy to go with untwinked, a +3 jav skills spear with a 3x pdiamond shield will get you pretty far as far as javazons go, as they can easily farm cows on most difficulties.

If you want to make a Barb that isn't too gear dependent, you could always try a singer barb. His gear isn't to hard to get, but I admit starting him off and getting to level 30 will be quite hard solo. But, since he is a caster, you don't have to worry about finding a great weapon.

Basic gear can be quite cheap, you can go welfare mode and get 2 spirit swords, stealth, lore +warcry helm for runewords, then fill in you amulet with a +1, and then random FCR rings, belt can be anything with maybe FHR, same with boots, but try to hope for a pair of Frostburns. While it may not be needed right away, try to get any insight you can for the mana regeneration, otherwise you will be chugging mana potions like you wouldn't believe. Plus mana charms help too.

He is a great party player too, he will have a high BO, and the ability to stun just about anything for a good amount of time, and stun monsters are safer, and easy for the kill. Just, really watch out for FELE due to the stunning them bug.

As for Java's, I find having Increase stacked/Replenishing mods on my first starter javelins to be of most help, so I don't have to go to town every 2 mins to repair. Also, being HC, if you want to, you can pump up Valk a bit to maybe 17+. Sacrificing one synergy isn't going to really hurt unless you want a super high CS. Or you could always make a hybrid, with FA, strafe, or well, anything. Fury doesn't need any synergies really.

Yes I do agree that the singer would be a usable character at the start of ladder because of the stun. However, 2 x spirit swords is anything but easy to get early in the ladder. Considering the usefulness of spirit early during last reset. You would have to use 2 self found amn runes and 4 os swords. Which is not exactly easy when everyone else in the game is looking for them too.

Bone necro --

I am actually considering a bone necro as well. I made one this past ladder, and he did wonderfully well.

The nicest thing about bone necros is that you can shop a +3 bone spear bone wand from act 2 for putting 'white' in later. Dol an Io are pretty easy to get even in the start of ladder. you will still have +3 bone spear until you get the runes.

I eventually would get some better gear, but decent stuff can actually be shopped for a bone necro. I ended up find a 5 socket thresher for 'obedience', and could then solo hell baal with my necro this past ladder. the bone prison and wall make this a pretty decent char to solo thru all diff levels. Io should be findable from nm countess or forge. (hell countess definately).

I am 90% sure this is going to be my starting char.. I just have to make sure to save up any junk I find to sell for the 300k gold it will cost for a +3 bone spear wand.
