Ladder or normal toon for new player?

I have not played since the game first came out so trying to read up on some builds and stuff. I have not seen which is a better toon to start out with though or the differences between ladder and normal.

Also still looking for a hammerdin build guide the one in the FAQ is dead now, thinking to start with that or a sorc maybe since i have nothing at all.

there's no reason not to start on ladder imo. you're able to make more runewords and find more items, and trading on these forums is much easier on ladder. at least in europe realm.

I play ONLY Non-Ladder and am still annoyed that they came up with Ladder-only stuff :banghead:

There's tons of builds that pretty much REQUIRE ladder-only rune-words... sure you can get them on non-ladder via players from previous ladder re-sets but they can be quite expensive! There are rumors of a ladder re-set coming soon so you might end up on non-ladder anyway but knowbody knows for sure if/when that will happen. My advise is Ladder for sure!

There's really not too much difference between lad and non ladder, other than some cube recipes & runewords you can only make on ladder. Like the two guys above me said, ladder is slightly more easier imo for new chars since you can make chea runewords like spirit, and if you decide to do NL, just wait for the reset that comes around every year, and those ladder only runewords will give you a fortune.
