Kuko Skystrike question

I got this bow for my Amazon Lightning/Cold type build. I was wondering if this is just about as good as it get for bows and if it's possible that I can socket this bow with perfect Diamonds for resistance. My build basicly is like this...

http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=464188

At times when I have to use the bow, I lose out in resistance untill I socket this bow. I'm asking so I know that my sockets are being wasted.

Lastly.... Can you socket a unique because this whole post is a bit useless if you can't?

Don't do it. You will get +68% Damage vs. Undead if you socket it to a weapon (bow included). Check this out : http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/gems.shtml

If you are in tight budget, winzendraw is a nice little bow to use for its massive -cold resist. It is a bit slow, though. You'll need to socket it a sheal and some IAS from other gears.

I love that bow (Wizendraw) on low level frostmaidens. Think of it like training wheels until a better bow drops. I also find myself using 'Zephyr' alot on low level bowies. 'Stealth' armor and a 'Zephyr' bow are usually standard equipment until I can get my hands on something better. . .

BTW- only socket Diamonds in a shield if you are looking for resists. . .

Ok i have absolutly no idea why I typed the topic as it was but the bow is actually a 'Kuko Shakaku'.

It has +3 to bow skills for the amazon and this helps me out greatly with the Frozen arrow/Cold arrow. As well as great damage.

Reason why I want to socket this bow is because it offers no resistance nativly. I have a +60 to resistance shield when I use my regular Javelin but, when I switch to my bow at times when its required because of lighning immunes then I lose out in that resistance. This is why I was wondering if this bow is as good as it gets so if I socket this bow for my build type then it will be worth wild.

Some ways to up your resist:
1. Resist charms :) GC, LC, SC.. do some Cow runs in normal and nm. You'll get some of them.
2. Cheap armor/helm: Vipermage (+35 max), Kira (even low one will give you +50 all), Smoke rune word (+50 all right there). Trechery runeword armor (when fade is tiggered, you get +60 resist all, 15% damage reduction).
3. Be sure to finish all 3 Anya's quests (+30 total).
4. Expensive armor: CoH runeword (+65 resist, + skill.....)
5. Anni and Torch all give resist all. Low-mid zon torches just very cheap (pgems).

There are many way to increase your resist. It is actually not that big deal with low resist if you play carefully. Certainly, it would be easier to play with good resist, though. We have fallow zon palyers here playing with negative resist in Hell mode without problem.

Alot of what you named outside of the easy charms are not easy to come off unless you do continuous runs which gets boring after awhile. I am not willing to do that. The game is already as redundant as it is alone just going through Nightmare and Hell.

I'm trying to avoid the repetitiveness as much as possible and that's the only downfall to this game since Blizzard doesn't care all that much for anything other than WOW.

I kind of question how anyone can survive in Hell at negative resistance. I'm in Nightmare at full resistance and any group of Glooms can easily take me down from 900 life in no time. Especially when each hit freezes you as well. I'd like to see a video of this because I really don't believe it's remotely possible to go -resistance in Hell without being a Necro or something with minions. My particular build only allows 1 merc and that's it.

The trick is that You don't need to find those items yourself. When you leveling/cowing or playing, just remember pick up those shiny flawless pgems. Cube those into pgems. You can trade many basic stuffs just by pgems (vipermage armor, low-mid runes, even higher runes). In east ladder, the crafters will even trade perfect amethyst or perfect ruby for 2:1 ratio (1 pamethyst = 2 other pgmes).

In east ladder, ko=10pgems, Lem=20pgems, Pul=35-40 pgmes, Um=70-75pgmes. HR=~3Ums. So, you can do the math.

Oh, since you are making fishyzon (the link you mentioned), you are good to go at least NM WSK and NM cow. There are lots of flawless pgems and charms dropped there.

I'm very sorry I didn't mention this in the first place but, this is strictly a single player non-Bnet character. That kind of limits me to no trading but, it's how I'm wanting to play as a game on the side. So going off of that and with all the other things I've mentioned above, is this bow good to socket?

Are you referring to that? If so then that's questionable since my build mainly concentrates on CA/FA damage when using a bow and +skills is more powerfull than just the 55-160 cold damage that this weapon provides. This build only uses the bow when the LF/CS aren't effective against lightning immunes. Therefore the 55-160+ Lightning won't do anything yet the 55-160 fire will but, it combined with the 55-160+ cold still won't do more damage than the +skills overall damage.

I do like the Melody Runeword bow option and I think it's an overall better choice for this build if I can get my hands on KO since I already have Shael and Neg. I'd lose out in the +50% piercing but, gain +3 to critical strike though. Which is better in that case?

It is easy to reach max pierce with +skills and razortail so the pierce you lose from using Melody over Kuko is not a problem. Put Melody on a +3 GMB/MB and you're ready to go.
