Kingslayer vs Passion

Softcore Ladder PvM Melee Sorc---

It has been since patch .09 since I have last tried to make a melee sorc. I just finished making all three high lvl single tree sorcs- blizzard, fireball/meteor, and lightning/chain lightning. So I have gotten accustom to 22K damage or something outrageous like that, which was a lot of fun. Anyway after making all these overpowered sorcs I am now thinking about making a total pro melee sorc. As I am looking at these new runewords it is difficult to chose the best weapon for her. Yesterday I found a 4 socket Cryptic Sword and already have the necessary runes from all my forge runs and am considering making a melee either a Kingslayer or Passion Runeword weapon (see stats below). Is a 4 socket Cryptic Sword the optimum base weapon for these runewords for a melee sorc or would a Phase blade be better? I also have a 2 socket Djinn Slayer and the mighty Azurewrath as well, but with a req lvl of 85 on the Azurewrath it will be a while before she will be able to use it. I think I am going to lvl with my trusty Hexfire, until I can use either Kingslayer or Passion.

Kingslayer- (Mal + Um + Gul + Fal)

+30% Increased Attack Speed
+230-270% Enhanced Damage (varies)
-25% Target Defense
20% Bonus To Attack Rating
33% Chance of Crushing Blow
50% Chance of Open Wounds
+1 To Vengeance
Prevent Monster Heal
+10 To Strength
40% Extra Gold From Monsters

The Kingslayer grants a +1 to Vengance! That is a skill I have never used with any of my Pally builds before, so I am a bit unfamiliar with it. I hear it derives elemental damage- fire, cold, and lightning, from your weapons base damage. So a Kingslayer Sorc should Max Warmth, Enchant, Fire Mastery, Cold Mastery, and Lightning Mastery? Thats 100 points total, not much room for static field or a cold armor. So this build would be complete at lvl 90ish or so, and I am not sure that is even possible for a melee sorc, lol. Anyway, how does a Kingslayer Sorc fair in Hell against Fire Immunes? With 2 soj's, Viper Magi, Arachnid Mesh, and Anni thats makes for +5 all skills, or a lvl 6 Vengance I believe. What kind of damage out-put can I expect at lvl 6? To top it off the Kingslayer has great crushing blow; and with Goreriders and an UM'd Guillaume's Face, thats a grand total of 83% crushing blow- so that will help.

Passion - (Dol + Ort + Eld + Lem)

+25% Increased Attack Speed
+160-210% Enhanced Damage
50-80% Bonus To Attack Rating
+75% Damage To Undead
+50 To Attack Rating Against Undead
Adds 1-50 Lightning Damage
+1 To Berserk
+1 To Zeal
Hit Blinds Target +10
Hit Causes Monster To Flee 25%
75% Extra Gold From Monsters
Level 3 Heart of Wolverine (12 Charges)

The Passion sorc needs enough + skills to bring the Zeal up to 5 hits. That would make better use of my CB gear, thats for sure. Passion looks like a great single tree weapon. I would not need to max the other masteries so I could drop points into FO for fire Immunes... but that would not be very melee would it? I suppose a Might Merc with a Tombreaver could help break those immunes. I heard good things about switching to a Glimmershread as well... Anyway, how much health does a lvl 3 Heart of Wolverine grant? I bet it dies real quick too...

I need to figure out my resistance gear, like CoH or the Up'd Um'd Viper Magi with my Up'd 2x pDimond Mosers. Though I think the Mosers with 65% block requires too many dex points for max block. I also have an Up'd Um'd Visurant to chose from, it has 72% i believe, leaving room for more health. I don't have a SS or that would be a consideration. I think Magefists are probably the best bet for gloves (bloodfist a close second), and Tal's Ammy (wish I had Mara's on ladder). Besides my Anni and a hand-full of Fire Skillers, I need to find good elemental charms that would be enhanced by my masteries.

Depending on how badly you end up needing resists you could always use an eld rune (i think that's the one) to add another 7% block onto the Moser's. If you really have a lot of runes to burn, you could even up it, since the base blocking % is higher on the elite version - by 15%.

Beast.

It's more fun.

But of those 2, Kingslayer after maxing your Cold/Lightning/Fire masteries would be the overall better weapon for a non Were-Enchant Sorceress in PvM.

Passion has 1 really stupid mod called monster flee. For me this ruins the whole weapon already. Kingslayer all the way for me. :D

Kingslayer in a Cryptic Sword all the way. No better way of putting your masteries to use on a Sorceress melee build.

why not in a phase blade? In a cryptic sword gives more damage, but a phase blade more speed. I am just curious which is the best weapon to use for kingslayer.
