Kingslayer melee sorc is dead due to new runewords!?

background:
the sorc uses a 2-Hand axe (silver-edged or glorious) with Kingslayer runeword. she has a very fast attack 10/11/12 frames with a 2hand axe, cause these axes ahev the same speed as staves for sorcs.

Now with the new runewords you can make this:
kingslayer ba (or other one hand axe)
phoenix shield

the phoenix shield seems to get up to 400Enhanced Damage (1) (%range not revealed atm). Therefore you will get higher damage with this shield than a build a 2-Hand axe, both have the same speed for sorcs. And you can block!

Therefore ther is nn to make a 2hand axe sorc. Make a 1hand one!

BUT: Any barb or pala will be far better with a kingslayer ba and a phoenix shield. Why should I make a sorc then??? Only reason is to be unique!

Need opinions, Im somewhat frustrated, just finished my kingslayer sorc.

Well, consider these points:
• "Phoenix" doesn't have any Increased Change of Blocking or Faster Block Rate so your blocking will be both low and slow and it will interrupt your attacks often. I guess you could fix this by using Guardian Angel, but then your resistaces would really suck because...
• yup, Phoenix doesn't have any resistances either.
• you would loose huge amount of style points by using a tiny axe like BA :)
• and last but not least, the price of Vex, Vex, Lo and Jah is waaaaaaaaaaayyyy beyond my wealth

not much more to add. biggest point -> no increased chance to block! You would need a hell of alot dex to reach max-block. not worth it at all.

block-lock is a problem.

Res is not a problem, cause you dont have less res when using a one hand axe instead of a 2hand.

always a good point

thats true, but ... maybe sometime ...

• no increased chance to block!

some block is better than no block! But not if you are block locked

I'm seriously considering giving my enchantress a Spirit RW Cryptic and a Spirit RW Monarch and seeing what happens. The +22 to vitality on each (if you gain all the benefits of dual equipping Spirit RWS) will make up for the extra str needed to equip a monarch. The massive FHR on the 2 might make up for the reduced IAS and I would have a big boost to Fire mastery at the time the hit connects with the extra +skills. And it's idiotically cheap. May just have to socket helm and armor with Rare IAS jewels that add fire reists and other useful mods to balance out fire resist. Hmmm worth thinking about.

LMAO that's EXACTLY what I was just thinking of doing! Keep me posted if you do so and tell me if it's worth it. :xman:
