kicks & ctc items

Hi all,

Long time D2 vet here but relatively new to the assassin class.
I'm building a kick/trap hybrid and am confused about kicks and ctc items:

I read jrichards most excellent kicking basics guide, and it states that ctc is carried over to kicks.
On the other hand, silentshadow's k/t guide states that ctc won't work with kicks.

Which is it?

Is it possible to edit one of those guides so that newcomers to the class don't get confused?

Thanks!

ctc's do work on kicks, perhaps better then any other melee build due to getting 6 kicks per cycle (maxed dtalon) at speeds faster then any other melee.

For this reason ColdKill hatchet is a pretty nifty early leveling wep on my kickers. I also like crecent moon and Lawbringer for its ctc's on kickers. Lawbringer adds so much saftey!

As a Avid MA sin player , Vouch that this list is accurate.

Effects and the kick skills

The following effects are carried by the kicking skills:
? Life Leech
? Mana Leech
? Elemental Damage
? Magical Damage
? Chance to cast X on striking
? Crushing Blow
? Open Wounds
? Prevent Monster Heal
? Ignore Target Defense
? Hit Blinds Target
? Hit Causes Monster to Flee
? Hit Freezes target
? Hit Slows Target

The following effects are not carried by the kick skills:
? + Physical damage. This includes + Min damage, + Max damage, and plain + damage modifiers.
? Deadly Strike
? Critical strike
As of the writing of this, there is a problem with ED/Max damage jewels. They don't apply the ED, just the Max damage. As kicks do not carry + Max damage modifiers, this means that an ED/Max damage jewel will not affect your kick damage at all even if the jewel is in a non-weapon socket.

hmmm...interesting.

That "Rift" runeword just got a whole lot more appealing. Lawbringer looks nice too.

Thanks for the info

These are two different CtCs.

One is on attack, which doesn't work. The other is on striking, which does work.

Both guides are correct.

Lawbringer and Rift are two very mediocre kicking weapons.

It does

ok thanks, will take a look at it.

Edit: Looked at it, stephan is correct but I do think in the right situation Lawbringer can be an awesome weapon but most of the time it is very 'mediocre'. actually looking back I do think that I over sold it in my guide, but then again looking that guide as a whole it seems fairly single minded. It was writen before the ladder resest with limited knowledge of untiwnked play etc.

UH..... Lawbringer is a godly kicking weapon. I have a PVM MA assassin that is using it right now.

Decrepify. Slows, makes you do more damage, makes your death sentry do more damage.... just godly.

Sanctuary is very nice also.

Lawbringer is a cheap, effective and awesome weapon for a kicker...
I've been using it on my pvm assy Baal/Ubers runner for years...

Extremely safe in Uber tristram!!

You can't use Death Sentry with Lawbringer unless you let your merc kill everything. RIP screws that up nicely.

With a little extra effort you could make a Crescent Moon PB instead, which is 10 times more useful. If you want to help your overall damage, static is really the way to do it. Especially in higher player games where Death Sentry and CB start lagging behind.

Extremely safe in Uber tristram!!
I could see how it would be useful there.

Code:
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Decripify On Striking
How does Decripify compare to Life Tap?

it increases damage delt to them 50% (multiplicative, not additive) slows them right down nicely and reduces their damage

if you compare safety,
life tap>decrep but only just.

Not quite. It lowers physical resist by 50%, which is the same as increasing
damage by 50% for someone with 0% phys-res, but for someone with 50%
phys-res it increases damage by 100%.

Crescent moon costs a little more than an Um... A Ber'd stormlash, despite its brilliance comes out at a little more than that. Sorry... I misuse little, I mean a lot. It is indeed an awesome weapon though, but Crescent offers a lot for a lot less...

Static is just too powerful, I wonder why sorceresses use it so infrequently?

A stormlash is worth less than an um? Just shows how much I know about Battlenet prices. :embarassed:
