Just for fun... 15,750 damage per skeleton!

I made some calculations on just how powerful the skeletons of a necro can get... with everything possible, no matter how improbable.

    Basic Skills:
    Skeleton Mastery: 20
    Raise Skeletion: 20

Items (this is where you will laugh):
    Helm: +3 summoning skills circlet
    Amulet: +3 summoning skills
Weapon: Wand with +3 summoning skills, +3 Raise Skeletion, +3 Skeleton Mastery
    Armor: + 2 ALL SKILLS
Shield: Necro head with +3 summoning skills, +3 Raise Skeleton, +3 Skeleton Mastery
    Gloves: doesn't matter
Belt: Arachnid Mesh (+1 ALL SKILLS)
    Boots: Marrowwalk (+2 Skeleton Mastery)
Rings: 2x SoJ or Bul-Kathos (+2 ALL SKILLS)
Charms: +10 summoning GCs, +1 annihilus (bnet only  )
Other: +1 Battle Command from Call to Arms (on switch), +2 skill shrine

    This gives us:
    +7 to ALL SKILLS
    +22 to summoning skills
    +8 Skeleton Mastery
    +6 Raise Skeletion
    or....
Skeleton Mastery slvl 59 and Raise Skeleton slvl 57

These monsters do 1304-1309 damage after summoning them. Use a might merc who at lvl 99 (more laughing, I know) has a level 29 might aura. Give him Arioc's Needle (+4), a +2 helm (can a +3 offensive auras be worn here?), +2 armor, and Battle Command... bringing his aura to slvl 38. This will give +410% enhanced damage. Have your necro use a Beast Runeword for lvl 9 Fanaticism for another +93% enhanced damage.

    1304 x 6.03 = 7863 min damage
    1309 x 6.03 = 7893 max damage

Use amplify damage on a monster, and if that monster has 0% physical resistance in the first place, you double the skeleton's damage... bringing them to 15726-15786 damage!

These guys each have 1745 defense and AR, and 3114 HP when you use the Battle Orders from CtA, and even after applying Beast (removing the +skill wand) and having the skill shrine wear off, you can still have up to 18 of them! With IAS from Fanaticism, you have 18 skellies doing 15,750 damage in the time of one quick swing.

Too bad this build is all but impossible to make. It was just for fun though.

 Now that is something I would love to see :D
Thats some crazy damage for a Level 1 skill to be pumping out :)
One thing though, the highest level a merc can get to is 98 IIRC, but that wont matter that much.

even at lvl 98, the merc would have the same aura level, so you're right.

btw, 18x15756 = 283,608 possible damage per swing (if they all connect). Teleport in and out using Enigma to make all skellies regroup and attack... this should make short work of any boss.

Hehe nice sure, but if I remember correctly Might Aura in 1.10 patch doesn't increased as in 1.10, I think the maximum aura the merc could have is level 17 :)

I don't want to do the math, but you get such a high level might :)

Heh, you might as well throw in a party of paladins with concentration, fanaticism etc, just for the heck of it and see how much damage you can get.

amp dmg, battle cry (reduces enemy def), concentration, might and decrep all supporting the mighty skeles. id say with all them maxed from other players, you could get over 10k of effective dmg per hit, per skele. 20 skeles, all with uber def/life as well so they shoudl never die would be worrying.

You can get +3 offensive auras on a helm -> circlet.

you could...but that wouldn;t help the merc. only +ALL SKILLS increase mercs' auras IIRC, but do correct me if I'm wrong.

    Why not build it?

You know, between all the people here in the SPF, all the gear is probably available. It would take a lot of trusting, but if you could get a bunch of people together to send it one person to try it out, it would be pretty cool to see. Take turns sending it back and forth between each other and have some fun, or get a bunch of people together in a MP game and let one person play it. I'm sure there are enough SPF veterans here that know each other to get together and try something like that....me, I'd just like to see a screen shot of one doing its work.

just my 2 cents, but heck, might be possible

That would be a great idea, although giving some of these high level runes would be a risk.

On my current necromancer I have an Enigma (yes, it is legit), 2x SoJs, an arachnid mesh, a +3 summoning amulet, +2 marrowwalk, +4 Arioc's Needle (in stash), and a Harly (in stash, for the merc), and 6 summoning GCs... that's a good start, but I think the hardest pieces to find would be the wand and necro head with +3 Summoning Skills, +3 Skeletion Mastery, and + 3 Raise Skeleton.

The wand could be found after days of arduous shopping, but you don't really even get a good opportunity to shop around for necro heads. Having one spawn with those stats is probably rarer than most runes... BUT, if those two items could be found, then the next step would be getting the Call to Arms and Beast Runewords and +2 Armor for the merc, which is quite a bit more reasonable, but would require some generous donations. After that, it's just a matter of a +3 circlet, and 4 more GC's... oh, and an Annihilus (oops... forgot about that) .

EDIT: I have been informed the aura damage from Might and Fanaticism might not add so nicely as the calculations above demonstrate... so the damage might not be as high as listed. Still, it has to be godly.

P.S. throw in a enchantress so all skeletons have an added 1600 fire damage, I know that doesnt seem a lot compared to the god like physical damage but hey, its an extra 1600 dmg

Okay, so your mom, wife, husband, etc. says "We've got to go, NOW!!"

And you say "Give me one minute while I kill Baal. Just 1 minute"

And you walk in with your horde and start the fight.

What are you gonna do for the other 55 seconds????

Perfect build...I'll get started on it right away. Now, if I only had the helm, or armor, or charms, or wand, or one single item on your list  Oh well, my skellies are doing okay with my crap equipment, but at least this makes for a really fun discussion.

How can you use both the wand and the Beast runeword? Do the skeletons you rase with that wand still stick around and stay strong after you switch to a different weapon? </necro nub>
