Just Exposing a couple of botters here on Dii.net

These botters are really bothering me lately. As it turns out, a few of them actually post here (can you believe it?).

These two botting members of diabloii.net are:

Whatacatch And Joel9-co

What proof do I have you might asking yourself.

1. Both of these members have quite extensive trade lists, whatacatch with about 15 different vipermagis for trade and Joel with his rare pindle dropping items such as ik armor, griffons eye, gris wep, gris helm, stonecrusher and boneflame to name a few. Doesnt nececarily mean either of them bot...but its pretty fishy.

2. Joel actually trades only using mule accounts now since he "is only on at odd times when no one else is on". Hmm...It is hard to trade with someone when their botting.

3. Neither of these folks gave out their account names in their thread. I only found them out by looking through different threads they posted in.

After i found out their account names, I did a little experiment.

Simply type /whois *accountname and see what their up to. I message them both when they go from being in useast to being in a private game. No response. So they are joining/leaving games but not responding to any of my messages.

Here are the screenies.

(This is to whata)

Now i know you dont get banned for botting on these forums, but maybe you'll reconsider trading your hard-found items for their botted items.

now everyone point and laugh

Chicken can fail quite easily. Alot of bot sorcs die, more than most people think anyway.

Bad mod combo + some lag and that's 1 shot kill before your bot knows what happened. Quite costly in the current season as well.

I knew Joel9-Co was a cheater long ago from his previous posts.

Blizzard needs to beef up the pindle posse a bit more. Make every skele hit for 20000 dmg.

Or just make it to where you gotta type in certain amount of letters + words in weird font, the kind you do on emails. BOOM gg botting.

That's a good idea. So like you go talk to Anya and she gives u random password that u have to type in for pindle to spawn. I guess they could do this but then there would probably be a different bot within a few days.

LOL, no person in the history of D2.net has ever been banned by the trade mods for botting. Now, all mods together, "NOT TRUE!"

But if screen shots like these were used as proof, maybe the Trade mods could send these people over to DiabloWorld?

Been discussed in detail on battle.net forums.
The main arguement against;
IF a bot eventually gets out with a way around it via pixel recognition (not likely, someone who hacks D2 is going to be able to do this, but people in general can, and it's plausible that the hobby of one of those people is D2 hacking...they're not all script kiddies, someone has to write the scripts for the kiddies to use) then the bot is going to be able to enter games instantly, while legit players are going to be slowed down.

The secondary arguement (a weak one I think, but possibly valid) is that some people can consistently take 3-7 tries before finally getting the letters right on those.

The main counter arguement (this being on the b.net forums, a mecca of mature discussion) OMG YOU BOT IF YOU DON'T THINK THIS IDEAS [email protected]
With one or two people pointing out how although it is plausible for someone to find a way around it and release the bot, it is very unlikely and at the very least we'll have a couple weeks of botfreeness until it does get out.

As for the main post;
Ewww...joel is good people, I thought he was just DChunter botting. At the rate he joins/creates games (f list notifies) I still actually find it hard to believe he's pbotting, but looking at his FT list, and the amount of time he's actually on, it does strike me as the more reasonable explanation. I blame denial, and the fact that I get "has joined game xxx" 2-4 times per my one pindle run (mostly thanks to game line), and I felt I was running fast =(

Actually, whata posted his account in a trade today. So that arguement is gone. But im not saying he doesnt bot, im just saying that arguement is gone.

If pindle spawned in a slightly diff position every time wouldnt that stop pindle botting? If ur bot teles u to the same position every time but sometimes that was where the pack was wouldnt that kill alot of botters?
I really have no idea how the scripts work so i could be wrong :)

No. Bots can scan where a monster is or where to go. How do you think people Andy Bot? Granted, they would not be as safe in your way mentioned, since JHJ would not be able to put them behind a wall. But still...

Its really sad to see but, every orchard of apples is going to have a few rotten ones. Just as good and legit as most players are here, there are many who map-hack, bot, and probably dupe, tppk, and other dispicable things. Just the sad state of how un-punished these crimes against the diabloii community are that is causing it to spread. :hanky:

Some ppl are just lucky as hell.. My best friend and roomate who isnt playing this season but played last season, found full Nat's set in the first few days of the ladder season (I think he traded for the helm, found the rest), not sure if it was a week exactly or a little less. But he didnt bot, nor did he ever MF much, he just lucked up on a few baal drops.

Actually he does mf. We will get together from time to time and I will bo so he can do hell andy and meph safer and I will tank for him after he gets there. Sorc/Barb combo is good for boss running.

If they bot and use the tradeforums here, they should be banned, i guess the its up to the mod to decided if you can prove it. iirc trading bottet gear is why seise finally got banned.
i have been away for sometime, but i guess they still ban if you can prove it..

I got one banned last season, but with much better proof than those screenies...I believe that if they're trading their self-found botted items it's grounds for a banning.
