    Just an introduction...

    Heyy,

I've been onlooker on this forum for a couple of days and now decided to register. I've been playing D2 for ~3 years (certainly not all the time  ).
Used to play HC on battle.net, but got pretty bored of it. Couple of days ago I started to play HC singleplayer, and I've got one helluva nice time :) Just wanted to say hi to all of ya, or 'terve' like we say in Finland!

...and one question for the start. I have lvl 54 fishymancer who is doing pretty well, although the items are bad. I've pumped only VIT and STR, but not DEX at all. I have something like 60 statpoints without use though, and I just wanted to know if I should aim for max block or high VIT. I'd sure go for max block if I had nice shield (homunculus  ) but since it's my first character I don't have any. So the question is, should I take DEX? In act5, I find blocking very nice since there are a lot of ranger monsters etc. Is it worth losing pretty much VIT?

Any advices are appreciated! ...and now :drink:

Hey welcome to the SPF, glad to see new converts, have a drink on me :drink:

As for your questions, I would definately recommend that you go for blocking. My 83 fishy has maxed block, using the homunculus. You only get 2 HP per a point in vitality, and while that is not bad, I prefer to be able to block 3/4 of the attacks..specially the dang ranged attackers.

I would say go for the Block.

How much is your dex at that lvl to maintain max block? How about your STR, VIT and EN? :)
Oh, there's one more question. Does the /players command affect to the monsters damage? Or does it just increase/decrease monsters healthpoints and exp given.

    hi, welcome to the forums!!

concerning your Q - I would aim for the block listed on the shield. I belive that after that, the dex req get really steep, so you could pump those points into vit. Not a very popular opinon in the All or Nothing type mentality, but I think it would work quite well :)

I am at work right now, so I am not sure of what the stats are. Str was enough to equip all of trang-uls set, as I only need the girth to finish the set.

I actually did not put any points into dex until hell, and then I just dumped a 120 into it at once, but I believe with all my plus items to dex, it is around 220-230ish..but do not quote me on that. Of course, everything else is in vit of course (engery was left at base).

As for the /players command, I heard some where that it did not increase the damage they did, but honestly, I do not know for sure, so you will need to ask some one else in this forum for that.

    /players does NOT affect damage.

Good luck. I also used to play HC on bnet and finally saw the light

    Welcome to the SPF :howdy:

I will repeat the previous advice, that max block is more valuable than high vit...if they can't hit you, it doesn't matter how low your life is, right?

    Enjoy your stay here.

    Welcome to the SPF

I don't know mancers, they're the one build I've never really tried. But even if /p 8 doesn't increase the damage they do per swing/shot, remember that they'll stay up a lot longer and have more chances to dent your armour. That's sort of an indirect damage increase.

See you at the EMB. :drink:
