Jon Stewart vs Jim Cramer

Re: Jon Stewart vs Jim Cramer

My point being that I'd much rather have Stewart around me than, say, Al Franken.
Seems likely you'll get a toofer.
I think the brilliance of Stewart is that he says a lot by saying very little.
Whereas I don't believe the words "Stewart" and "brilliance" belong in the same sentence. Yes, I enjoy his show on occasion, and every once in a great while he makes an attempt to not be completely partisan, but for political humor he's nowhere near P.J. O'Rourke.
When you put it like that, I guess I see Stewart as the opposite of Obama, in a way. If Obama is shallow masquerading as deep, then Stewart is deep masquerading as shallow.
I agree with your concept completely; I just don't think Stewart is as 'deep' as you credit him with being. He goes for low-hanging fruit.

Stewart does with the news what Cramer does with stocks.
True, but I think the potential impacts are very different, and therefore the responsibility level is too.

It's like saying Ken Lay wasn't an irresponsible CEO for not knowing what was going on with the company's money, because you once had a shift leader at McDonald's who misplaced $20 in cash from the till one night and the worst he got was a talking to from the general manager.

That is to say, if Stewart leads me astray by twisting the news like Cramer (allegedly) did with stocks, I run very little risk of waking up tomorrow without my nest egg.

True, but what you do with your money has less effect on me than what you do with your "informed" vote.

Protip: If your financial advice comes from a frenetic man with clown hair who says, "Boo-Yah!" in the whitest way ever, ask yourself why he left his hedge fund job to help you and the millions of other watchers.

That is to say, if you don't do your own research, tough. Read a ****ing business section. Or don't. Pray for a dumbass bailout.

I'm pretty sure losing one's nest egg in the stock market may influence one's vote too. *cough*hopenchange*cough*

Every election is now a competition between the fascists-lite and the communists-lite.
But luckily they are both so grossly incompetent we don't have to worry about them being able to actually implement their nutty beliefs.

Pretty funny thing to say in the middle of a massive global financial crisis. Especially when the last ten or so governments you've had have pretty much been the same heap of **** with a different coat of paint on it.
