I've just found my first ever...

The Stone of Jordan!

Was doing a rush in nightmare, one of my least favourite place
The Lost City

almost tele past by that group of "salamander" monsters, those
with 4 arms, 4 long blade tall creatures.

then i was like.... whatever lets kill them.

a unique ring dropped, i was thinking to me myself, its gotta be
either dwarf star or nagel ring lol, soj? gotta be dreaming....

Id-ed it. The Stone of Jordan! My first ever all these years
and is the definitely the best drop for me ever.

with all those duped sojs on non-ladder forcing us not being
able to actually equip the soj for use, now i finally can get to
really USE it!

How will a legit, self-found SoJ poof?
Cause I have heard that some cases like that in this forum...
Say you self found a Lo rune, you join a game with a person with a duped Lo rune and he exits first, and your Lo rune will poof too.
Forget where I read it from and if it will happen on SOJ, though...

wow is that for a fact? can someone confirm? thats so sad if its true.

however... if the game checks duped item based on "fingerprint" or "item" id
say soj1 has AAA, and soj2 also has AAA, it deletes one of them.

but lets say my self-found soj has a UNIQUE, database-wide id EFWDBWD.
obviously you won't found another soj with that id coz it has never used
to dupe. so even when some dupe mule with 40 duped sojs of AAA, it won't affect mine.

Does the logic above sound correct? can someone confirm it?
thanks...

but i wonder what happens to that Lo rune incident though...

Shouldn't be possible, never heard of any selffound items poff for anyone.

And your logic is the same as mine, however iirc they'd delete both items if the've got the same fingerprint and not just one of them. Not quite sure though ...

Thats what I think, although the thread maybe collecting dust somewhere, but I wil try search related post about that.

each item has a unique item ID when it 'pops'. EAch due shares the same item ID. When two or more are in a game at the same time, they may poof. Legit items will not.

And don't forget to pay your soj-taxes here, Gorny and Dredd will hunt you down if you don't pay up!

I don't hang around here long enough to understand. What does that actually mean?

Well, when you find your first soj, you have to pay taxes for making the thread (everyone brags about their first soj here)

It's a joke from Gorny/Dredd (our moderators here)

How much is this tax?
Is it in $$? Or do we have to hand over the SoJ we just found?

I'm going to look for a legal loophole around this "tax". You'll be hearing from my lawyers.

/sarcasm

Gratz on your find.

I-X: I heard about that too. But that was about when I joined the forums, about in `05, so dont bother searching for that thread. I never ever heard of someone who had a legit item poof on him. Ayaueto, I wouldnt wory if I were you.

Ah yes, almost forgot it: You can always perm items so that they dont poof. Just go to the secret duck level and...

Erm, guys, help me out here. :badteeth:

Surefire perm method.

On the night of a full moon, at the appointed hour:

Go to the Alter of Storms and prepare the following items for the sacrificial ritual of perming..

1 bottle of hair perm solution, one bottle of jerry curl, one Krischan, one wickedly curved Kris of Kringle and the item to perm.

Mix the perm solution and jerry curl, and give Krischan a perm. Take the Kris of Kringle and the item to be permed and give them to Krischan.

When the light of the full moon shines on Krischan, he will go into a state of shocked rage at seeing his new perm and take the Kris of Kringle and stab your item, thus perming it .

It will never poof, but it will be quiet greasily permed and a bit useless.

Congrats!! I personally have found every unique ring on the game... except the elusive SOJ!

P.S. Sorry for the 1st post... I've recently started playing again after a short gardening leave. Starting from fresh is wierd, no gold, no gems and not even a crappy rune to my name!

Thanks for all the replies. One other thing though.

just wondering why wouldn't blizzard "fix/patch/get rid of"
this perm method, as it is so widely known and have been
working since 1.10 patch.
i'm sure that will help with the duping problems getting rid of it.

I bet the related code are written real nasty, that the previous
programmers left behind, and when the new programmers checked
out the code, they were like... hmm forget it, just let it be. lol

They don't need to fix/patch/get rid of this "perm" method because this perm method doesn't even work.
