is this build viable/good

I've always wanted to make a 2hand mauler, but I also want summons for support. Do you think this build would work?

Merc - Might

Beast would give me lvl 9 fanat to help out my summons/merc/me and also a lvl 13 grizzly to summon at need and synergize the wolves. Is it worth losing the extra damage myself by not going BOTD?

I'd have barnars + tiamats on switch to deal with phys immunes.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Hi!

Your build looks good. The only thing to grumble about was that the wolves wouldn't be needed for tanking if shockwave is used frequently, but with the beast synergy, might, fanatism and HoW they might actually do some damage.

The champion beast is a 7 frame weapon so no problems there. For an armor a fortitude runeword might be good if you are on ladder or stone if you aren't. For a belt trang oul's is good. With goreriders and highlords your deadly strike, crushing blow and open wounds would get a good boost.

gimmershred adds more elemental damage than baranars.

bstar with a shael hits 8 fpa on a werebear. bstar therefore does much more damage over time than a gimmer.
