Is there an Iron Golem guide?

Is there a guide anywhere as to which item mods work on an IG in 1.10, and how? How does one maximise its effectiveness without sacrifing expensive items? I know that in 1.09 it was quite easy to make an IG immune to elemental damage, for example.

Still is.

Get a 4 socket paladin shield with 24+ res all on it
Plunk in 4 PDiamonds.
Make an Iron Golem out of it.
One immune IG ready to be clobbered by Frenzytaurs ;)

Welcome Newcomer to The Darkness. Grab a brew :drink: and feel free to raise some corpses.

The Iron Golem (IG) gets almost all of the mods from an item. Things that do not carry over are any mods related to Mana, stat increasing mods such as +strength, ITD and PMH.

Hm... 4*19+24 = 100... does that mean Summon Resist does not work on golems?

Not that I would ever care about making an iron golem, let alone sacrifice a single pgem for it... but my Skelemancer has lvl 13 Summon Resist which translates to +61 resist all... so I would have guessed I only need 39 resist all in the item?

Not for the purpose of creating an elemental immune Golem. Since Summon Resist is capped for the summons you can't use it to reach elemental immunity.

Hm... I'm still confiused --- I blame... don't know, pick something.

- if I make an Iron Golem from something that doesn't have resists, it will have 61% resist all from my skill? Does my gumby have 61% resists?
- if I make an Iron Golem from something that has 39% resist all, it will have how much resists? 39? 61? Something else?
- simlar for items that have, let's say, 70% (i.e. more than my skill) resist all or 20% (i.e. skill+item is less than 100%) resist all?

Is there a formula somewhere (outside the game code, of course :))?

Yes, the IG will have 61% resist all. The Gumby will have the same amount of resists.

It will have 39% + 61% = 100%. However, since the Golems resists are capped at 85% IIRC, your Golem will only have 85% resist all.

It all works the same. Just add the resist from the item to the resist from the skill and cap it at 85%.

Things change when the item itself has resists that go past the cap. Then the resist from the item is applied. This is how I know it works. IIRC there has not been an experiment that has tested this hypothesis.

Not that I know of.
