# Is there an absorb % cap in PvP?

Is there an absorb % cap in PvP?

How does absorb works in PvP? Is there a cap? Let's see if it works the way I think it works:
when i duel my friend's cold sorceress, I put on 2 raven frosts. Suppose his cold attacks deal 1000 damage. My resistance is 75%, so I would take 250. My 40% absorb would give 400 life, so in the end I would gain 150 life?
Is that really how it works, or is there a cap and I'm just wasting a valuable ring slot with that seconf RF? I suppose there is a cap or this would render some duels pointless, but considering "balancing" is not blizzard's strong point...

No... it comes after resistances so in your example, you would gain 100 life and lose 250, so a net loss of 150 life.

%absorb is capped at 50%, however straight +absorb has no cap.

Absorb is capped at 40%.

Edit: To the OP, I assume that's 1000 cold damage after PvP penalty.

Edit2: Remember that with absorb, you're healed first before having the damage reduced. So, if you're not full life then the %absorb is technically double.

as orphan says its 40%
you absorb after res so its based on the 250.
40% of 250 is 100 so what would happen is you would absorb+heal then lose the life.
so 40% of 250 = 100 heal and 100damage 'removed'.

eg at 2000/2000 life youd heal 100 to remain at 2000life.
40% of the damage was removed so 150pvp dam 'left'
remaining damage is taken 2000-150 = 1850life out of 2000left

if at 1000/2000 health
you heal 100 to 1100/2000
40% of dam was removed so 150pvp damage applied
1100-150 = 950/2000life
=resultant loss of 50life.
