Is MF a curse now?

I very glad when white items drop, they are the best way to get common debris in larger quantities, but MF makes it even rarer for white item to drop. I think that MF is a curse now, I would avoid items with MF if I can.

In diablo 2 did I also sometimes avoided MF to get white socked items to runeword.

Getting white items is actually quite easy, and you don't need to drop MF to do so. Weapon and armor racks have a very high chance of dropping a white or grey item, so if you go and farm in an area with a ton of those, such at Act I Cathedral or Halls of Agony, then you should be able to rack up a lot of whites, and thus a lot of Common Debris. Yesterday I did a bunch of runs doing just that, and each time I returned to Tristram I had at least 8 whites, and usually I had more than 10. In an 8 hour time period, I went from having no Common Debris to having over 1000 of them. Thus, MF is not a curse, and you don't have to drop it in order to get whites to drop.

That said, MF is basically worthless now, since only 10% of it applies to legendary/set drops, and rares drop like gold anyway. Thus, MF isn't a curse, but it also isn't important, so if you do end up dropping MF, it really shouldn't make any difference. The only time MF would make a difference would be if you stacked up more than 100% MF now, which is difficult and requires the lvl 70 Cain's set full bonus and a well-rolled Nagelring. Even then, the bonus would only be a 10% increased leg/set drop rate, so if you drop some MF, it shouldn't make a difference.

If MF is worthless for leg and you don't care that much about rarest, just drop MF. Keeping worthless MF and being forced to farm for 8h for white items seems curious to me.

i've tried with around 150MF on PTR (torment 1) and i did not notice any kind of difference between 0MF and 150MF.
Both cases was tested 10 days (with avg 2,5 Hr per day).
The number of legendary was THE SAME!!!
i've had Depth diggers, sun keeper, and rest was old MF gear...

i could bet that all legendary drops was from "safety net", almost every 60-70 min for legendary drop....

The 'safety net' wouldn't happen for legendaries found in that time period. The stated goal for legendary drop rates is roughly one leg/set every 60-90 minutes, so your drops are within the expected range. The 'safety net' only kicks in after you go for longer than that period without a leg/set drop.

That's because only 10% of your MF works for Legendaries and 30% for Rares. For all intents and purposes MF is gone now, which I like. I'm honestly surprised though that the devs kept it in the game in this form.

Those are indeed good places to get whites, thanks.
