Is it worth running Normal Diablo?

The handy dandy ATMA drop calc claims my best chance of getting a Gull Dagger is Normal Diablo. He also has a great chance to drop Goldwrap and Chancies. Is Gull Dagger's 100MF worth running Diablo over? (His chance of dropping it for me solo would be 1:459)

I'd think that you could probably run some of the uniques in Act1 a lot faster (the skelliemage near the InnerCloister waypoint maybe? :scratchchin:), and their odds shouldn't be that much worse, so in the end those might be faster. However, I they might not be able to drop chancies & goldwrap...

Personally, I'd likely wait until NM Mephisto anyways. You probably would get an Occy before a Gull, but some of the other items he can drop are useful too (Vipermagi, Duriel's, Shaftstop, KelpieSnare, Skullder's, HoZ, etc.)

I got Gull dagger a few times from mobs/bosses in Act1, Mephisto is also a good choice. Waiting for beiing able to kill Mephisto on Nightmare is worth it.

Yeah, I think this is what I'll do. I've got 185MF on right now, and I will add another 48 to that with a helm once I start doing the Meph runs. That should be good for a while, and even better if I can find some +players NM games every once in a while. I won't worry about trying to salvage the quest kill drop, though, that may take too much time.

You should, its very profitable. :) Find baal games or something and kill mephi + andariel there, that should do the trick.

The answer to my question, apparently, is a lot. I'm glad I decided to keep the quest kill around. I've only done 15 or so runs, but he's already dropped for me a Tal's head, a Peasant Crown, another Sig shield, and a pretty +2 skills Pally shield, among other things. I think I'll be hanging around in NM for a while.

I refer to Meph. I guess I could go and beat up Andy too, while I'm at it, since she always gives the quest drop now.

Plus NM Andy has the best chances of droping a SoJ.

Back ont he topic about Diablo. Running him is tedious and you need to be well equipped. You need to kill the 3 bosses before he spawns and that already takes time. So this might take alot longer and the chance dieing is rather high too.

Well, Meph just dropped a Gull, so I'm no longer worried about Diablo. Soon after he dropped two frosties, and infernostride and some bloodfists. Oh, and I'm glad I started running Andy because she just gave me an SoJ.

    Tonight's been a good night.

Re: Is it worth running Normal Diablo?

Be certain that the ATMA calculator is actually referring to normal diablo and not to diablo clone. I seem to recall that the clone appeared a lot in all my calculations for that and it took me a while before I realized it wasn't normal diablo. Diablo clone is the one that seems to have significantly higher chances than the next highest mob.

I'd run normal andy for an item as low as gull honestly. When the items are that low of a level the odds can be better because there is no chance at much else and drops are checked highest to lowest.
