    Is it worth it?

    Butcher's Pupil
    Cleaver

    One-Hand Damage: (55-60) To (132-149) (93.5-104.5 Avg)
    Required Level: 39
    Required Strength: 68
    Base Weapon Speed: [10]
    +150-200% Enhanced Damage(varies)
    Adds 30-50 Damage
    35% Deadly Strike
    25% Chance of Open Wounds
    30% Increased Attack Speed
    Indestructible
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.09 or later)

I was wondering if its worth upgrading this. Here are stats is upped:

    Butcher's Pupil
    Small Crescent

    One-Hand Damage: (125-164) To (180-236) (144.5-208 Avg)
    Required Level: 45
    Required Strength: 115
    Required Dexterity: 83
    Range: 2
    Base Weapon Speed: [10]
    +150-200% Enhanced Damage(varies)
    Adds 30-50 Damage
    35% Deadly Strike
    25% Chance of Open Wounds
    30% Increased Attack Speed
    Indestructible
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.09 or later)

The damage goes up pretty good, I (will) have enough strength/dex. The big question is if its worth the runes: Pul & Lum?

Also, the base weapon speed is 10, the unique has 30%IAS which brings it to -20. Would it be worth using the socket quest to socket it, and put a Shael? Or another rune, or Jewel? I believe the next breakpoint for IAS is -35 for WW speeds.

After upgrading, the stats are very similar to:

    Razor's Edge
    Tomahawk

    One-Hand Damage: (90-107) To (159-188) (124.5-147.5 Avg)
    Required Level: 67
    Required Strength: 125
    Required Dexterity: 67
    Durability: 28
    Weapon Speed: [0]
    +175-225% Enhanced Damage (varies)
    +40% Increased Attack Speed
    -33% Target Defense
    50% Deadly Strike
    50% Chance of Open Wounds
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.10 or later)

I would say no. Those are some pretty useful runes, and if you really want to use them for upgrading that's not really a prime choice given how good the already elite options.

if playing twinked, no, not worth it. if you are going untwinked and are not having any luck finding anything better, it could be worth it if it helps your killing speed a bit until you can find something better. Ultimately though, it's a minor weapon at best and not worth any great investment in. a few Meph runs should net you something better

edit: it's definately not worth a Pul & Lum. i was thinking normal->exceptional. very few things are worth upgrading to elite. in almost every case you are better off looking for actual elites rather than burning two good runes. Plus, if you can find a Pul & Lum, you can find a better axe

If it was an eth hone, a ribby, a WWS, or something alike, it'd be worth it. But, this is merely a leveling weapon in my opinion, so not worth it.

I would do it if the butcher's is perfect ED. Otherwise, i wouldn't.

If you're playing untwinked and you've got the Pul/Lum, then go for it. Especially if Countess runs are easier/safer than Meph runs. If on the other hand you're playing an uber-twinked char with really nice gear waiting for him later, then I wouldn't bother. It is a sweet weapon through all of Nightmare and early Hell though.

i think you'd be better off with a longer range weapon for WW.

Do it. Upgraded Butchers are awesome weapons to use until Razor's Edge or Death Cleaver. My old WW Barb used upgraded Butchers for all of NM and Acts 1-3 Hell and it was gg enough. Pul and Lum are pretty common anyway.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it but the "indestructible" mod is a big plus.

Not unless its etheral, it can be just a pain if you have to go back to town every once in a while to repair.

IIRC items can't spawn etheral if they have the indestructable mod on them (unless they are ~ment~ to spawn etheral like ''Etheral Edge'' ).

If you don't have the higher end items, then it is definately worth it.

The indestructibility mod also is also excellent for Zealots especially.

yes indeedy. Once you've played a DC wielding zealot you'll appreciate the indestructible mod much more
