thou, do you do this in single player or on the battle.net realms?
because I did notice:
same gear, build etc
on single player -> 1 meteor killed mephisto on hell
on battle.net -> need about 10 meteors
or something like that, It's been a while, I made cold sorc to mf cause mephi goes down faster that way

do u use hax for sigle player?...lol. but why the hell do ppl play single player???
Hehe, good thing you didn't say this on the SP forum :)

Some people prefer to play alone most of the time (with the occasional tcp/ip game). Perhaps their internet connection is bad or not always available. Some people play single player to make use of mods. Others just want to get away from "ppl" using "hax" on bnet.

Are you talking about the moat trick? That's a trick that many people use but it takes a while.

When using the most trick, fireball is a rather bad spell to kill Meph with because most of them will miss. Among the fire spells, better use meteor or firewall.

lol, I play SP, but only because I don't play D2 on a consistent basis (I juggle games), but SP does have its perks:

- Almost the same fun factor
- Sometimes easier to obtain items
- No lag
- Accounts don't get deleted due to inactivity
- You can kick restart when your HC character dies =D

Just out of curiosity, what is the moat trick?

The funny thing is, I die about 1-3 times per Hell Meph run, whereas Hell D takes me about an extra five minutes but no deaths. =\ It's not Meph either, it's the Blood Vamps and the exploding council that kills me.

The moat trick is luring Meph to the moat, teleporting to the other side and killing him from a distance. Even though some of his spells have a range of more than a screen, he tries to close on you, but he is too stupid to run around the moat.

If you are doing the moat trick the right way, you don't have to fight the councils or the vampires in 80-90% of all cases. Apart from that, a Rising Sun amulet will make you more or less immune to their fire spells. Even if you have to fight them, you can apply the moat trick to the councils as well and the vampires are easy to kill with fire spells.

I think he was trying to kill Meph with as low a level as possible.

At level 23, no meteor I'm afraid.

Fire wall (L18) in on the list as well :p

Anyway, you can kill hell Meph with a L1 sorceress using what she wears upon character creation, but it might take a few days to kill him with a L1 firebolt :uhhuh:

Stop playing HC and go back to sc, where dieing at worst set you back a little, xp-wise that is.

I'm not sure where people get this perception that single player is easier then playing on the realms.

If anything it's more difficult because we have the FE bug still, we don't have access to the massive trade pool of duped runes, and we don't have access to any of the new runewords.

Other then that though, it's exactly the same. Killing meph takes the exact same amount of time in SP as it does on the realms. We can adjust the player settings so 8 players on Bnet is 8 players on SP as well.

On the other hand, you wouldn't necessarily need access to the massive trade pool of duped runes (or items), as it's somewhat easier to dupe them yourself.....

Additionally, you can "back-up" your characters. As morally pointless as that would be (especially from an accomplishment POV); in theory it could be done for hard-core characters...

Keep in mind, that I would like to believe that people didn't do either of those. But what one do on one's own comp, isn't really important to me.
