Is it possible to ROLL a jewelers monarch of deflecting?

Is it possible to roll one? with a magic monarch 3pgems or 3chipped gems?

Yes, it should be. I'm not sure what the needed ilvl is though.

And it's 3 PGems to re-roll a magic item.

Edit: Here are the alvls of the affixes, don't know how to work out the ilvl from them:

Jeweler's 55
Deflecting 11

Monarch should be at least ilvl 77 to be able to get jeweler's prefix.
Chipped reroll recipe is for weapons only IIRC.

afaik, its only for swords
I am not sure now, but wasn't it for sword only in 1.09 and in 1.10 for all weapons? I think I have rolled something with this recipe, but I am not sure if it was a sword or not. I think it was an axe...

In 1.10, it works for all weapons. Even throwing weapons, but they don´t get sockets, of course...

You can use chippies, regular or flawless gems. The regular gem recipe needs a socketed weapon (of any quality) the other two needs a magical item. So if you use one of the three recipes, you can use any of them for further rerolls since it becomes both magical and socketed.

Note:
The item level is set to 25 (chipped recipe) or 30 (the other two), so you need a high-end weapon type for the higher "affixes". Examples:
* If you want to roll a Cruel weapon, you need one with at least qlvl 75.
* If you want to roll an Arch-Angel´s sorcie orb (hopefully with a good suffix and nice staffmods) you need an elite orb or a Swirling Crystal.

IMO it's a waste of gems to roll for one. Having a look in a vendor's inventory until a monarch appears needs far less resources than gathering 3 pgems.

If you use the chipped/normal/flawless recipe, it might be the case that you can't get the benefirts of the Jeweler's prefix because the 4 sockets will be replaced by the 1-2 bonus sockets (which are not a bonus at all in such a case), I guess. I might be wrong, however.

I'm fairly certain that if you roll a jeweller's prefix, the prefix gets applied first, then the magic item tries to socket itself, sees sockets present, and someone gets the finger.

Just to clarify, the chipped/regular/flawless gems recipes only work with weapons.

The '3 perfect gems' recipe works on any magical item. With this recipe, the ilvl stays the same as before the reroll.

Except for the fact that no vendor can sell Monarchs. :(

They can sell Aegis and Ward, but those shields require more STR and are heavier.

Just a little tip for Kireiray:

It depends on what you want to put in the sockets (of course), but a good alternative to the shield you desire could be to shop for a Chromatic shield of Deflecting, and add socket(s) with a socket reward.

Tower Shield for the best blocking, Bone Shield for good blocking and lightweight, Grim Shield for a combination of Defense and the advantages of a Bone Shield (but such Grim Shields are much harder to buy).

A perfect Chromatic shield that gets two sockets, and with PDiamonds in it, would get an impressive 68% Resist All.

So true...

I've only found one, and traded it away...
If you manage to cube one, I'll say you're damn lucky ^^

Hmm, I admit I never tried shopping for monarchs. That might be an explanation for a JMoD being so rare. I will ID all magical monarchs from now on :)

Prices of JMODs sky-rocket because they can't be bought on vendors. Wards are the second most wanted (JWOD) but they can be shopped -> shopbot. A JMOD can reach the amazing price of 100 sojs for the right buyer, but cubing one is like playing in the lotto... probability is that you'll be wasting all your D2's resources and still you won't get one.

Weird - I've seen Gheed, Charsi, Elzix, and Asheara offer me magical Kite Shields for sale in Hell difficulty. Apparently, there is some limitation which prevents them from being upgraded into Dragon Shields and Monarchs.

you cannot upgrade magical items, you can only upgrade like these type items, and you cannot buy rare items from the vendors, although you can gamble them.

Non Ladder and Ladder
normal rare to exceptional rare
exceptional rare to elite rare
normal unique to exceptional unique

Ladder only
exceptional unique to elite unique

Check here for an explanation. (click on the "How does this work?" links)

The Kite Shields that Hell Charsi, Gheed and Elzix sell are probably HellUpgrades of Buckler or Small Shield.

Asheara is more strange, since she can sell Kite Shields in Normal and both Kite Shields and Dragon Shields in Nightmare. But in Hell, she can´t sell any sort of exceptional or elite shield. Maybe they come late in the "pecking order" and simply don´t fit in the window because of all the other armor items she can sell. Ogre Mauls suffer from this phonomenon as well. None can sell them.

I was not talking about cube formulas for upgrading items. I was talking about the phenomenon by which vendors will sell Exceptional or Elite versions of items (whose current setup prevents Monarchs from being sold by any merchants)

Come on, people

Gheed is practically prohibited from selling elite anything, even in gambling. How long did I try gambling for bones until I realized the bug probably wasn't fixed? When I went to act four and five I hit at least three bones from every full bank and purse using one, the other or both Gheed's Fortune and Edge.

I'm pretty sure you can gamble a monarch elsewhere, then just reroll it, but gambling a Jeweler's Monarch of {insert desirable suffix here} straight up... ugh. Glad I stowed three or more Baal monarchs while I was leveling to 96. :D
