Is blocking worth the DEX investment for a Summoner?

90% of the time my necro gets hit is due to impatience.

Patience is like block + bone shield x10 compared to any blocking you can get in the game, as well as any damage reduction, for this build.

And yes, if your skeletons are crumbling away it's time to leave. Always have revives up for this reason, if you like to wait the battle out and see if you can turn it around. Revives get super huge life and won't crumble away like your skeletons. They're also very IM resistant due to their lower damage output.

Or souls blasting through your minions, and hitting you even when they are there. As block can spell the difference between life and death with physical enemies, so can that 250 HP for convict souls. Regardless, you will wish that you have it the other way no matter which way you chooses......
It used to be that MSLE was the thing to fear, but since that got fixed, most ways to die are physical (or at least part physical/blockable). If you don't skimp on resists, no elemental attack is dangerous. Maybe Gloams, but you know that they're coming and can prepare. Maybe there are a few more, but with max resists, I can't think of many elemental attacks that I'm scared of other than FE ggd (blockable).

Physical damage is everywhere and all the time. You could be walking down any corridor and any mob type could be ES, EF, Fanat. The majority of gg rolls that people fear are stacked physical boosts. I also can't just put on one item (i.e. Tgods or Wisp) and suddenly survive a physical attack. Physical resistance is built up over time and has to be in the back of your mind with every item that you choose.

250 hps less on Gloams (which I know are dangerous and can prepare with Tgods) is much less likely to matter than 75% block down every single corridor vs every single boss pack.

But good point to that other person about blocking going to near zero while running. I walk at all times that I'm leading, but if I had no block I'd probably be forced to go even slower.

One thing I'd like to mention is that it's not a huge deal. I think that block is a little bit better (and I can support my reasoning, especially that no elemental attack has gg'd me), but if I got to level 60 and had basically no block, I wouldn't start trying to block, and I wouldn't think about rerolling for something so silly.

But since homun is pretty easy to get and is so freaking good, why not go max block?

True, but my poison/summoner is using trang's shield, with pdiamond, so it takes a bit more dex for block. Also, 3 piece of trang = no t-gods for me.

Besides, I simply can't stand walking.

I agree it's not a huge deal, though. If you are getting hit that often that block is a must, you are seriously playing a necro wrong. Similarly, if you are being hit by souls that bad, you are also playing him wrong.
