Iron maiden in melee pvp...?

It works. But it's barely effective. It only works if you hit a minion while IMed, as they do not go through the PvP penalty.the boss said:
In Char v Char, IM is pretty useless, however it does do some slight damage. That's why people claim it's Bm. Just like with Grief (OTOZOAMFG PSN NUBLARE!!)

In melee vs summoner its pretty much bm imo. You cant really do anything without hitting a minion. Some chars do have an attack to get around this but some dont. Barb leap to split the pack and then berserk. Rabies on druid is another one.
But generally i would consider it bm in melee vs summoner.

well vs bone nec or summoner that use alot of walls and minnion stack yes it a problem and is bm cuz not all mele can counter lifetap like a rabies druid and a barb using bezerk leaving alot of mele in trouble espeically with walls + minnion stack, however mele vs mele it does not od huge dmg, but then again if u took this approach then their is nothing wrong if i bring out a lifetap wand.
Walls+minions + IM done by a boner is a mean combination, guaranteed. But it's by far _not_ as bad as decrepify + walls + minions, as this prevents you totally from whirling (walls or minions take the hits, your whirls are slow enough for spirits to catch you). Making it a telezerking fight. A summoner shouldn't be considered much of a problem versus any BvC. Their walls are weak, their minions are highly leechable.SicHalo said:

So my answer is yes, it works against melee chars if they just try to tank you. ( i had just 1 point into IM lol )

life tap doesnt heal nearly as much as a high level iron maiden kills you.
Normally, you will die in 1 hit to a minion.
Its also interesting to note that if you Iron Maiden someone, and they attack a quill rat, the kill goes to the quill rat, and they lose exp ~_~

In the old days of D2 classic, the barb-nec duel was usually done with nec using iron maiden and barb using a pike or low damage lance.
Nec would try and lure babo into a whirl, then dodge and cast a bone wall into his whirl path. Barb would try and get a precise whirl, so as to kill the nec in only 1 hit and endure the iron maiden damage.
Fun duels. But lag would usually be the decider 50% of the time.
