Iron Golem & Iron Maiden?

Do Iron Golem & Iron Maiden work in conjuction with each other?
I just need to know if I'm better off using Blood Golem instead, which really is my favorite golem.

Are you using blood golem with iron maiden too?

IIRC, that combo has been nerfed in 1.10, blood golem can no longer take hits like it used to. It doesn't leech life off IM damage anymore.

This build is just for solo really - a few points in Dim Vision and Resistance, maxed Iron Maiden, maxed Golem Mastery, one point in Amp and Attract and some +skills).
I wanted to create something I hadn't tried yet, and so far it's been working fairly well - currently in Act III, Nighmare.
It's sometimes a bit slow, since IM is useless against archers and spellcasters, but I have a mercenary to deal with those.
I only use Blood Golem when my Iron Golem dies, which almost never happens.

Also, have any of you tried using the Bramble runeword with Iron Maiden?
Does it work well?

- Amp + Thorns is much more effective than Iron Maiden and Thorns.
- Amp + IG is much more effective than Iron Maiden and IG.
- Amp works with CE. Iron Maiden does not.
- Amp helps your merc. Iron Maiden does not.
- Amp only needs one point to be effective with decent + skills thus leaving your options open for additional skills. Iron Maiden needs to be maxed to be even decently effective.
- IM + BG combo doesn't work anymore. The damage returned by Iron Maiden used to be treated as if it was done by the Blood Golem so it would leech back an insane amount of life making it nearly invincible. Now, the Blood Golem only leeches life from hits it makes thus making it once again fragile.

Anyone else want to add to my list of reasons why Amp > IM?

Amp also looks a hell of a lot cooler floatin over the monsters heads

Well, that kinda sucks.
However, are you saying that I should max IG and cast Amp?
Doesn't that mean that the enemy will hit my golem less often, because of the def bonus? I didn't put any additional points into IG for this reason; is it viable, or am I just fooling myself?

Yes, if you must use this build IG+Amp is the way to go.

I honestly don't know what is the best way to make this build effective. Blizzard made the incredibly dumb mistake of making an IG gain defense with level when we want it to get hit. However, even at level 20 an IG only has around 800 def which isn't much. It should still get hit plenty.
