Take a weapon, shield or armor(I like weapons mostly) drop it on the ground...then make your golem out of it.blueheed said:Hi, I looked around, did a few searches and couldn't find anything that I was looking for. How exactly does Iron Golem work? If you could tell me or point me to the right link that would be great. Thanks.

The better the weapon, shield, or armor.....the better your Iron Golem will be. If it dies...then you need to make it again.
There's alot of great weapons and armour that one can use, I've used alot of different stuff(from a b-star to shaeffer's hammer) but I like IK maul alot. For armor I've used shaft, guardian angel(to name a few).blueheed said:I heard it was more complicated than that, how does it work with the item? What kind of characteristics does it take on for specific mods? What kind of items will be best? Thanks.
Of course it is, which is why when you see your Iron Golem getting close to dying, you make a tp and heal him before he dies.Zon2000 said:Stupid question, since I've never played Necros till recently and have never used IG:
When you make the IG from the item, the item's gone, right? So if the IG dies, you have to get a new item to make it from? Isn't that kind of risky for really nice items?

Of course there is another way to get Iron Golem(without using any points)...just use a MetalGrid ammy. Though you need to be 81 to use it.
That was my favorite armor to use.....seemed like I found that more often during mf runs.gvandale said:damn. if i can't read it at work (dii.net / arreat) i don't know it. i don't read at home, just play. either way, hw armor is great for static.
As Mad Mantis said there used to be a thread here that detailed all the things that carry over from the item to the golem. The thread might have been for 1.09 but was useful until lost in the forum hic-cup. Most things seems to have stayed the same for Iron Golem in that respect although all the synergies for golems have made a big difference.blueheed said:so does an iron golem recieve all the bonuses an item carries?
Increase to damage? Will the damage of the golem be increased by the percentage, or increase in relation to the total damage of the weapon?
Crushing blow and such?
Chance to cast on being struck?
I still don't know what to expect if I use a certain item. Any more help would be great.
