Introduction as a new SPF member

Hi -

I am a new SPF member and was advised by my friend Maareek I should make an introduction thread to say hello and introduce myself [please move this if I posted to the wrong area]. I am a pretty competitive former Brood War player who played often with Maareek and many other people 9-10 years ago

I've played Diablo 2 off an on, mostly off, since the game was released. I played on the realms many years ago, and have recently restarted on single player within the past three weeks. I play a 91 sorceress, and that's the only character I have thus far. The only mod I use is RWM, and I use GoMule for item storage. Completed my first trade with Maareek for a low Mara's Kaleidoscope which was a marked improvement over my previous sorceress amulet. Thanks buddy!

I understand I must wait a week after joining before I can post in the trading forum area, so I'll post there at some point in the near future. As a new player, I am not wealthy, but I do have a large number of pgems and some crafting runes, along with a few nice items fortunately found. Definitely interested in trading and possibly multiplaying as well

Looking forward to interacting with some of you. As an aside, anyone have opinions you'd like to share on a fun build to make as a second character? I've always enjoyed playing sorc, but I'm interested in making another fun character. Are bone necromancers fun to play? Any opinions are welcome here

Welcome!

I recommend Nightfish's Worldstone Keep Amazon guide. Lightning Fury/Freezing Arrow zon. Doesn't need great gear to start with, was fun to level (for me, anyway), and can run several targets, including cows and pindle for wealth building when you need a break from the sorc.

Edit: Oh, and yeah, bone necromancers are fun. Controlling the battlefield with bone walls and prisons is different from other classes.

Welcome!

Bone necromancers are kind of slow until level 18 (bone spear).

I would actually suggest a fire/summon hybrid druid (am having lots of fun with mine currently).

Also drop in the Bar for conversation and complementary Dew.

Welcome to the forum!! Join us in the bar, DJ is the barkeep and will get you anything you want. Except food. It's strictly a drinking bar

Welcome!

I'm really enjoying a phoenix striker just now, and I think Maareek made a guide?

Thanks for the welcomes and the character class suggestions. All three recommendations by Sunset, djmb, and Kitteh sound very fun and interesting! I just might give one of those a shot as they are all completely different from anything I've played before

Could someone please give me some brief advice on trading? I'm supposed to wait a week after joining, and then post a trader profile and then post what I'm looking to acquire or what I'm trading and seeking bids on?

Thank you, nebux.

Maareek did make a guide. I've read it.

Well, while I certainly would not put making a guide on a skill I've never used beyond my ego or outside my range, it seems more likely it was done by the forum's resident assassin maniac, maxicek, an assumption supported a little google-fu. That said, if we could still pretend I wrote it despite this disruptive evidence, I'd be okay with that.

I love my bonemancer, but I tend to make an effort not to use corpse explosion. Otherwise, it's really no different from a poisonmancer or even skelemancer, i.e. use main skill to kill a target -> blow up the map.

And welcome! You probably won't see me too much as I've been playing Path of Exile and Titan Quest a lot more than d2 recently. But I"ll be around!

Wait what? maareek and maxicek are not the same person? Next you'll tell me mapekek is also a completely different person! What a load of bull!
Now, now, there's no need to go crazy and get confused. maxicek and I are different people, yes, but mapekek is the same person as both of us. See, it's really quite simple.

I'm always glad to take credit for other people's ideas and/or efforts. That's what makes me such a good leader.
