    Installation woes....

I went out and bought LOD today. I brought it home, uninstalled d2 (because I had upgraded to 1.10), and re installed it. My problem is that whenever I try to install LOD, it keeps asking for the "Play Disc", which is already in there. It always happens when its installing the d2music.mpq, so Im gonna try and manually install that file, to see if it wil bypass it.....
    anyone expaerience this before?????

Is the LOD disc in there or the original DII play disc? You will have to insert the original play disc, the one from DII classic, in order to install LOD. Later on it will ask you for the LOD disc, but first you have to insert the original one.

At least, if I recall correctly.

    snowie,
Its the original play disk. I have made sure of that. Its a little scratched, so I think that might be it. If it Is then I have to buy another one. Maybe I could "borrow" a used one from EB games, and sell it back to them when I am done......

What is the exact error? Your cd drive doesn't recognize the disk, or what? Reinstalling DII did work, right? So there must be something else wrong than a mere scratch on the disk...

Heh, if nothing else works, you could always try Blizzard's technical support or something like that. If that fails as well, DII ain't that expensive anymore.

    Fixed it!
Went to the DII tech support page, and found the solution. Aparently it wasnt a scratch on the disk.
    Solution:
    1.Put in LOD disc
    2. Copy d2xmusic.mpq (think thats the file name)
    3. put copy into your D2 directory
    4. Install LOD

That bypasses the installation of the music file. Not only that, but it also saves you 300Mb of Hard drive space, because the LOD music file is 53 megsm compared to the 350 meg classic music file. 300 megs might not seem like alot, but in my 4 gig hard drive, it really adds up. I doubled my remaining disk space by using this method... :D

    Im having fun so far.
I started a Raven/Poison Creeper Druid build. Its quite interesting how you can take two under-rated skills, and combine them into a powerful build.

    Yeah. Doesnt everybody, now adays?
I know Raven and Poison Creeper have big flaws, but when you put them together, they seem to compensate for each other's downsides. For example, poison creeper is relatively hard to kill, so it acts as a damage filler and tank while I am re-casting my birds. On the other hand, Ravens seem to like to attack where ever the PC is. They will blind the monsters, who will stay on the poison "mats", and continue to take poison damage after the creeper moves on to another enemy. Only thing im worried about is a monster with both physical and poison immunities. Maybe I'll put some points into fissure, just in case....
