Insight Question! [very simple]

Hey everyone! I've just recently registered, and I'm a fairly new D2 player(6 months). Anyways, I just got a Sol rune, which completes my runes for insight.
My question is: Where's the best place to get a 4 socketed scythe/pike/etc.?

I've tried finding it via dropped items, but no luck. I just got to NM Act 5 as well.

Also, I cannot use blue items for runewords correct?

(I've searched and found a bit of information, but I just wanted to make a post to be completely clear before I waste the runes :])

You can not put runewords into magical (blue), rare (yellow), set (green), unique (golden) or crafted (orange?) items.

The easiest ways to get a 4-socketed polearm would either be to find it in normal play, or to find a non-socketed polarm and using Larzuk's quest reward to socket it (he gives maximum amount of sockets for the item's type and level).

Any Voulge, Bill or Colossus Voulge you find in Nightmare difficulty will get 4 sockets from Larzuk.

Btw, a Pike is a Spear, not a Polearm. Make sure the item you put the runes into actually says "Polearm Class" and not "Spear Class".

Baal runs in nightmare have netted me ten 4os polearms so far. One was ethereal (yeah!).

Yes, os = open socket. I don't like to rely on my socket quest to get the 4os polearm or sword I'm looking for to make an Insight or Spirit. Many unique options appear later in character development that can use that socket.

Yeah, I'm going to look around first before I use the quest. Gonna try and get a colossus voulge first.
On second thought... maybe not. 210 str req.

Another question: Is there a table for a mercenaries stats somewhere? Tried looking on Google for one but can't find it. I see that this is their stats added each level
+1.5 Strength
+1.5 Dexterity
+9.5 Defense
+2 all Resist
+10 Life

But whats the base stats? He just hit 62. Whats the base stats? I can do the math if anyone knows what it is :p

if you think the requirement is too high on the merc weapon, you can always attempt to find an ethereal version of it, as they do not break when it's being used on mercs. Also, just as a reminder if you are planning on using the socket quest. Please make sure you goto Battle.net to check on the item first.... not all polearm gives 4 sockets, when you use the quest, it gives you the highest sockets you can get, so there's a good chance that you might end up with 5 or 6 sockets.
basically I just gave you some information that you may know already, but I just thought I will still throw it out there since u said you are rather new.
