Indestructible Runeword Bug - Still active?

I read a few old threads about the indestructible runeword bug:
Where you take an ethereal weapon and use a runeword with the mod "indestructible" on it, and then unsocket it, which causes the indestructible mod to remain on the item. You are then able to use another runeword on it and it still be indestructible.

For example, you could use a ethereal 5-open socket decapitator, socket with Death runeword, then unsocket, and put Beast runeword in. Then you'd have an indestructible Beast Decapitator.

Does anyone know if this still works in 1.12?
If so, do I have the process correct?

I'm playing on b.net softcore ladder.
Thanks.

Also, it dodn't require a runeword. You could just zod an etheral unique, and then unsocket it, and the unique would remain indestrucible

yeh but not every ethereal runeword requires a zod, so some would be cheaper in the long run :)
instead of using a zod every time

So does that Zod bug only work for single player too?
And does it work on non-unique, ethereal items?

Basically, if an item would become indestructible because of an item (or items) in the socket, and you removed the items, the indestructible mod would remain. This doesn't work in bnet anymore, and only works in single player if you have an version which you haven't patched

Actually, it's a bug with ATMA (the single-player muling application). If you don't use ATMA, you won't get the bug in SP either. The patch version has nothing to do with it (err... beyond whatever patch # Blizzard fixed the bug on BNet too... 1.11? 1.10?).

jjscud did some pretty extensive testing to figure it out - search for posts he's made and you should be able to find the details.
