In need of assistance.

Hello all,

I've made myself zeal/shock paladin and he's doing very well at level 77. However, I am having a problem with the monsters that cast iron maiden. They tend to cast it on me when i'm in the middle of hitting them and *BAM* one dead pally :(

I am using the hand of justice (sword), Exile (shield), and Griswalds armor. As you see I don't have Enigma or any of the great armors but defense is 6700 (due to aura from Exile).

Any ideas on how to live through an Iron Maiden cursing would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, one of my friends has a pally with holy shield, and this appears to make the shield shine, however my shield does not do this and I wonder why?

Thanks

Have a Weapon Switch... One with VERY low Physical Damage but one that is quick. let the lightning do the damage and you won't be hurt as much. Take it out whenever you're in an area where IM can pop up.

As for the Shine.... Do you actually Cast Holy Shield??

Along with alainpp66's suggestion, you could also put a point into Vengeance for situations like these.

I am assuming you are talking about Oblivion Knights casting Iron Maiden. The best way I've found to deal with them is to lure away their Doom henchmen, kill them and any other enemies that are in the area, then weapon switch to a bow or a good throwing weapon and take the Ob Knights out. You won't take damage from IM attacking this way. If you get IM cast on your character, run around the Ob Knight until the curse changes then run away until all the other enemies are defeated.

Sorry to tell you man but you have just described a problem that plagues almost every melee character. The only time that I have been able to not worry about it was when I had an assasin that was based on lifesteal. The only thing I can tell you to do is just be a little more careful aroun those guys and wait till they have all thrown out a curse. This usually means that you have about 30 seconds to wreak havoc.

For life leech to work, you have to be alive (obviously). If you have more physical melee damage than health, get IM casted on you, and attack, you'll die instantly. The trick is to have less physical, melee damage than the amount of life you have; then and only then will you be able to leech life.

This is what I think about IM, so I'm not sure about this. If anyone wants to correct me or confirm this, go ahead.

You could also use the oft-ignored cleansing aura that you proably got as a pre-req on your paladin. It's not complete protection from curses, but it does help a bit.

The best way my zealot can deal with Iron Maiden is A) Switch to a hucking weapon, or B) Die.

If you have less physical damage than life, you won't die in one hit. But you won't leech life.

Just stay close to mages. They have a chicken AI so when anyone is too close to them they'll always cast decrepify and try to run away.

Sidenote: A 6 amn phase blade *might* make you live through an IM'ed zeal.

Thanks guys.

Think i'll back off and use one of those "Hucking" weapons :)

And holy shield works now..visuals and everything
