I'm bored so...

I was thinking of building a barb that uses no runewords and not a full ik set barb either. I am not even sure where to start, so I am going to need help from you guys.

Being that as it is, I would like to make him out of easily attainable items that any newb could get their hands on without much hassle or expense. Not that I am poor in this game as I could easily purchase all the good gear that I need, but I just think it would be fun to make a poor mans build and then post back on here how well he did. Most build guides for any char usually make a mention or two of using xx runeword(s) and this 1337 item, I felt it would be fun to make a build without that stuff for the newb player.

Not allowed:
- Purchase price on items can't exceed a low Arreat's
- No Anni or Torch
- No more than two skillers gcs
- No upping item from exceptional->elite (exception is body armor)
- No socketing with runes Pul or greater, cheap jewels allowed

You can start a hardcore from scratch =) then, I'm sure it is almost impossible for you to get the not-allowed items listed above

Also, just for fun, Superdave used to start a hardcore char by using all cracked items, and see how far he can go =) You may want to try that if you are bored so...

I just think it would be nice to get a cheap-o build for beginners on the ladder, for those who aren't loaded with currency to buy their way in to a char or can't afford the standard build gear lists Just sounds like fun to go in to a baal run with cheaped out build also lol.

Why would you want an Hell offensive merc anyway?

It's fairly easy to make budget (no item exceeding pgms value) barbs of any kind.

why, everything on that list can be had for dkey-keyset (that was the rules right?). except maybe for the Azurewrath since idk what their going for, but if their expensive simply go w/ a sheal reapers toll. also, the all res jewels dont have to be perfect, hey can be 12-14, and be gotten for ~dkey. so, i figure that for everything on the list w/ reasonable to low stats would run u < 10 keysets, and for a toon that can beat the game, thats not bad. also, as far as the merc, u could go holy freeze or might if u wanted, but i like the AR more.

It is originally written for 1.10, but it is still pretty much the same in 1.11.

also, as far as the merc, u could go holy freeze or might if u wanted, but i like the AR more.

That's still no reason to take a Hell offensive merc. Take a normal one.

I have what might turn out to be a piss poor idea for a whirly, he mite not hit the bp, but I think the damage mite make up for that.

I am actually going to try to buy all these items or at least get a price on the items that I already have and try to keep it as low cost as possible, I will attach the prices with this. Again, I am going off the assumption that this build is for a newb player, so he is not going to have the typical currency, just some flawless gems and a few lower end mid runes, which means I have to convert a some of my currency to pgems to do it proper.

why the treks??? you can pick up low gores for ~15 pgmes. also, +3 warcries stick are free (shopable), so why not one of those over the spirit? bty, deffinitely the souls since u dont have ne source of ml, and soe is so much better for pvm than dungos.

I was thinking of taking the spirit instead of the wc stick just to help bump the enchant up. I do have a wc stick, so I can trial both out, not sure if going the route I am taking is going to be a smart thing or not lol. I might not really need to bump the enchant up though, I just might have to recast it a bit more often but that is not too big of a deal.

But I will try and grab a low pair of gores. I was wondering if even a low pair of Goblins would be useable?

I never realized that, I've never actually used charges from an item. Warcry stick it is then :thumbsup:

If you guys notice any other serious flaws or better items that only cost a few pgems to purchase, let me know! Remember though, I am trying to keep the total cost at 1.5HR or less, on USWL that would come out to 180 PGems, I'd be really happy to keep it under 1HR but I am not sure how well I can pull that off. If I have any change left over, I will try to use it to get a better item or a nice extra piece of gear for him.

Well, so far, not so bad. He can do the minions at Lev76, but it is not to say it isn't without any difficulties. I had to tp out of there several times once I got to the fourth wave.

He definitely needs some sort of res boost, so I need to get another allres jewel and maybe buy some single resist small charms and/or put more points in to Natural Resistances.

I still have points left on for skills on this guy, just debating where to put them yet, anyone want to chime in and help me out with that decision?

This is what I put on him so far and the prices on USWL for me to pick them up in (). I did up the Shaftstop and Duriel's because the stuff (Lem, Ko, PDiamond) for up'ing them are pretty easy to get on countess runs and off of HellForge. Speaking of HellForge, I did that solo with this guy >_<

well, i might consider upping the durial shell if it is high def, but the resale on low upped gores i dont think would be worth it. but, i would try to find a low btorch for ~pul and that will add atleast 10 res, and if u get another res jewel for ~10 pgems u will be sitting pretty.
