Im back after 13 years, Im lost

Ok so ive been searching this forum for help but I get lost pretty easily..:coffee:

1st - All I want to know is whats a good build for a single player game (with LOD and 1.11). I chose Paladin and Im now at lvl 13 with no skill points spent yet... I still find it pretty easy to kill stuff even without skills for now.

So many possibilities and combinations...which one is best for single play and you enjoy playing the most? I was thinking about blessed hammer + concentration after reading some posts..

2nd - Which is better?: 1h+shiled or 2h ?

Single player chars differ from realm characters usually, some items like annihilus or the hellfire torch are not available in single player, most of the high runewords are also hard to obtain in single player.

If you're thinking about a hammerdin there is no reason for you to go with a 2 handed weapon, wizzy/hoto and spirit/herold of zakarum are the most popular weapon/shield combos for hammerdins.

what about the avenger build? would I get through the game faster?

cause all I want it get past act 3 which I never did cause I got bored or overwhelmed each time. now I want something easy to get to the end and get ready for D3

If you want something 'easy', I'd suggest a Holy Freeze paladin. Chances are you'll get bored before Hell (so you'd have finished the game twice), but up to Hell difficulty, Holy Freeze Zealot is a killing machine with the added bonus of enemies being 50% slowed, meaning you have a huge defence advantage.

The Avenger is 'slow' because he only hits one enemy at a time.

Try:
4 Zeal
20 Holy Freeze
20 Cold Resist
1 Salvation
10 Holy Shield

That should get you through Normal and Nightmare very well.

If you have more skill points, put them in Salvation, and then Holy Shield.

You can type /players8 in the game to increase monster hit points and damage. But it also hugely increases the experience you gain as well as item drops. Most people find it worth it. Also, /players1 can get boringly easy.

I wouldn't worry about the items Mike mentioned; you're unlikely to ever encounter them in single player with your first character. Don't worry though, you'll find nice rares.

Remember to maintain 75% block when Holy Shield is cast. This means putting points in dexterity till it reaches 75%. Also, only put enough points in dexterity and strength to wear your items. Put the rest in vitality. None in Energy. Ever.

Hire a defence merc in act 2 and you're set.
