    IK WW barb socketing questions

was wondering what to fill my sockets with on my IK barb. I havnt built a barb in a really long time and then it wasnt so great. So I wanted to ask and see what some consider to be optimized options for this build.

    +Damage/IAS Jewels.
    Either +Max or +%ED.
You need the IAS since you're build is WW.
That's the only way to add speed for the build.

When I built my IK barb, I stuffed it full of nice ed/max jewels. Don't do that in the non-weapon sockets. Apparently it's bugged and doesn't work. :sniff:

What maxgerin says applies to the Maul, since only WIAS counts when it comes to WW. I'm sure he knows, but the way he says it is unclear. x). You need 30 more IAS for most hit checks, so 2x IAS jewels (with fancy mods!) would be ideal, but 2x Shael runes would still be fine.

If you plan on MFing, Perfect Topazes work for the Helm/Armor. If not, Perfect Rubies (BO'able life!) or Sol runes are nice. IK barbs don't really need all that much help. Anything will work. Just make sure your maul gets that 30 IAS!

EDIT: nilynrae is right about ED/Max jewels. ...too lazy to find appropriate thread.

    Yes, it was terribly unclear.
I assumed smilts was talking about the Maul, forgot about the Helm and Armor.
    I don't know what I was thinking.

As for the Helm and Armor, PTopaz as suggested would be nice.
    Or try Shael's/Sol's and PRubies.
Also, I don't know if this has been tested,
    Ith Rune sounds nice:
15% Damage Taken Goes to Mana
    Anybody know if it's worthwhile?

    Whats in my IK barbs gear;

    Code:
    Realgar Jewel of Fervor (weapon)
    +25% Enhanced Damage
    15% Increased Attack Speed

    Rusty Jewel of Fervor (weapon)
    +18% Enhanced Damage
    15% Increased Attack Speed

    Ruby Jewel of Hope (helm)
    +17 to Life
    +38% Enhanced Damage

    Realgar Jewel of Hope (helm)
    +18 to Life
    +27% Enhanced Damage

    Ruby Jewel of Spirit (armor)
    +8 to Life
    +40% Enhanced Damage
Ok, I'm bragging a bit by posting the details, but essentially imho, the ideal set up is ed/ias in the weapon or something ias to reach the last BP. Then off weapon ed with nice second mods if you can. I obviously went with life.
The off weapon ed makes quite a difference. A total of 105% ed is roughly half the benefit of a Fortitude's off weapon ed and the extra 43 life to help that huge life pool all barbs have.

You can start out with lessor jewels. You can clean the items out easily enough or replace. Helm is cheap though 40% BC mauls are worth keeping. I've cleaned the maul twice, the helm has been replaced and cleaned and the armor has been cleaned once.

Oh, and if you are wondering what to put into the back pack, AR with ether damage or life. But essentially you want the AR. 10 kay plus AR coupled with last BP WW and decent damage equals the real lawnmower man.

    Max

Only reason for xx% damage taken to mana or +x mana after kills is for when you are fightning unleechables and keeping mana up for WW. But I have found that usually your fighting mixed crowds, unleechables along with leechables. The occasions where you are fightning pure unleechables, chug chug. One blue will usually last long enough to clear a screen.

thnx for the advice seems fairly universal and was along the lines of what I was thinking.
