IK set question

i want to create a ik barb seeing ive got the whole set except for the armour, i was just wondering what main skill is the best for the build: berserk, concentrate or WW? obviously frenzy is out of the question...

btw does anyone have a spare IK soul cage lying around for trade? would greatly appreciate any offers on that one. :uhhuh:

I would say WW/Conc is the best option, main attack being WW with Conc as a backup. Lord_Vega had a IK Barb that I MP'd most of the game with and he ripped through anything that got in his path, I believe he used WW/Conc but I can't be 100% sure about that.

Another thread tonight asked about barbs. I made a barb with the following skills:

Concentration - 20
Weapon Mastery - 20 (maces generally give the best damage in the game) Max this over your first 30 levels so you don't have to worry about it later. Then max conc. You'll find that you'll breeze thru normal on "players 8".
Shout - 5
Battle Orders - 20
Berzerk - 20
Maxing Beserk for Concentration synergy will get you more damage than Bash synergy. You will use Beserk more than bash, due to the elemental damage for PI's.
prereqs - 1

Try to find some + battle cry daggers to use on your weapon switch when using them. You can get +5 0r +6 with them. You'll end up with 25 BO or so. Try to find some +defense charms or gear instead of maxing shout.

That was my barb who I just "patted" a few weeks ago.

I just copied and pasted my post from the other thread. I am not sure how to point a link to a thread. But it was called "Looking for help for a Barb build" started by "Oscar"

from what ive heard lately, many people are opting for putting only a point in the mastery, because of the severe diminishing returns, i can't reccomend this, as ive never played a barb that i didnt max it, but what they said sort of made sense. also, the fact you will be using a huge 2handed weapon of smashing and bashing, you will probably need more defense, so high iron skin or shout (probably shout for the extra bo synergy time) would probably be helpful

Personally, I'll always give all my barbs maxed weapon mastery. I have this bizarre desire to be able to hit things on a consistent basis, and since I'm not really item-rich, using +AR charms and/or the Angelic ammy and 2-rings combo just will not work for me. It leaves too many holes in the rest of my setup if I do that. While the diminishing returns on Masteries' damage boosts is an issue, the +AR is ALWAYS needed.

"Use Battle Cry" some might say. I've tried that, and the short range makes it an unworkable solution for me. I always get nailed hard every time I try it. I'd rather just let the skills take care of my AR problems.

One person's opinion, at least.

You will need the mastery. Trust me. With the IK set, you're not focused on any amount of dex to be able to wear items, so the AR bonus of the full mastery is necessary, as is usually the case with barbs, especially mace barbs, IMO. I went WW and 'zerk on my IK barb and i liked it a lot. Concentrate works, too, but i think it's boring, although it's quite safe. I'd go 20 WW, 20 BO, 20 Mastery, 1 Concentrate, 1 'Zerk, 1 Nat res, 10 Shout. It'll get you through the game safely and easily. War Cry is also nice, as is Taunt, both as one-point wonders. Leap Attack is also a skill to be used as a utility skill...quite nice, especially in the arcane sanctuary and for quickly getting to OK's, if you don't mind rolling the dice a little. You can fill out Conc and Zerk and decrease Shout as you please, based on what you use more. I personally like zerk for killing the OK's quickly. Good Shout makes team members happy in MP games as well.

edit: I am pwned by spiral. :)

WW is more my style...is that feasible?
As long as you use two Eth BotD Zerker Axes and a Chains Of Honor Hellforge Plate. [blatant sarcasm fueled out of spite for 1337 imatz and my distinct lack of them]

I wonder what a real-life WWing ogre maul-weilding barb would look like. would he be like a high speed version of those hammer throwers in the Olympics (prior to the throwing part anyway)?

I having one in HC right now he is a conc barb and berzerk as secondary when you fighting with OK. You don't need to use berzerk when fighting normal PI like ghosts. With the entire set you do some nice elemental damage.
Right now he is level 78 and looks like this.

Conc 20
BO 20
Shout 20
Berzerk 1

Don't forget to use taunt and battle cry very useful one point wonders.
I'm have started to put more points in Bash aswell to increase conc damage.
Hope you enjoy your IK barb

Yes. you won't be able to go above /players 4 or so for the end of the game in hell, but you're not really supposed to be able to, anyway. :p
