    If runes were dollars

If an El rune was worth $1, this is what the rune values would be. It would cost you $148,801 to make a BotD. These numbers are based on the drop ratios published at http://www.diabloii.net/items/runes/runes-scarcity.shtml, so they probably don't apply to 1.10. If anyone has the latest ratios, I'd be happy to post an updated list.

    El - $1.00
    Eld - $1.50
    Tir - $2.08
    Nef - $3.13
    Eth - $3.31
    Ith - $4.97
    Tal - $4.37
    Ral - $6.56
    Ort - $6.83
    Thul - $10.24
    Amn - $12.20
    Sol - $18.30
    Shael - $23.93
    Dol - $35.89
    Hel - $49.75
    Io - $74.62
    Lum - $107.40
    Ko - $161.16
    Fal - $238.02
    Lem - $357.02
    Pul - $540.22
    Um - $810.33
    Mal - $1,254.24
    Ist - $1,873.22
    Gul - $3,004.96
    Vex - $4,507.44
    Ohm - $7,591.47
    Lo - $11,095.23
    Sur - $20,033.06
    Ber - $30,049.58
    Jah - $60,099.17
    Cham - $90,148.75
    Zod - $144,238.00

*note: an Ith is worth more than a Tal because it drops less frequently, not a typo.

Since you have this info I wonder, do you have how many El's it takes to cube all the way up to a Zod?

    14,281,868,906,496 Els to cube a Zod. (3^20 * 2^12)

Even if you could do one cubing every second, it'd take you over 450,000 years. Might as well give up now :xeek:

edit: Interesting that the cube recipes are almost worthless for any particular rune.

Yes, most of the higher end runes are worth 50% more than the previous one. 2 Pul = 3 Lem, measured in odds, but the cubing recipe takes 6 Lems. Obviously the cube is meant for specific situations.

I had the total calced at "only" ~247 Billion; did I err in my math? I just counted backwards from Zod, doubling till Thul, then trebling the rest of the way...still a ridiculous number, either way.

    Steve

Yep, I did...forgot the doubling starts later, mea culpa....

I used 2 Guls found from the hellforge to cube a Vex to make Heart of the Oak. I'll stand behind these useful recipes 100%.
