If you were restricted to Normal/NM, Normal/Exceptional Items/Uniques/Sets, and couldn't advance past clvl 60....oh and classic runewords only.

    What build would you want?

I'd probably do a Holy Fire Ranger. Kuko Shapoopi.

    There's no such thing?

Playing the current patch with those restrictions?

Probably a Tri-Elemental Sorc, since I'd never have to worry about OP Hell!

My vote is Blizz sorc all the way. Would stomp Normal/NM so easily it's embarassing. Not to mention you could just tele past everything and beat the entirety of Nightmare in about 40 minutes. The only thing that would suck is leveling up, and even that is easily handled by going Charged Bolts and burning a reroll at 30.

If you mean 1.07 LoD that just makes cold sorcs even more powerful since CM pierces any immunes you encounter, although the first few levels will be slow unless you create an 8 player game. Oh, and you can easily beat Hell with crap HP and all red resists, so NM would be a literal cakewalk. There would actually be cake at the end of the walk.

In either case it requires no gear at all really. So the gear restriction is a nonissue. Sure you'll cast annoyingly slow, but who cares, just be a faster human to compensate.

Nope. Just thinking. There's some builds that are conceptually really cool, but struggle in hell. I also like spearzons, and weredruids. Fun but eventually underwhelming.

Alright now we're talking! Some of these builds require a shift in strategy, others require rather specific gear. For example the wolfdruid simply requires a Big Hurty Stick and some source of Amp or Decrep to walk Hell. Whereas the Spearzon might require a complete change of tactics, relying on a combination of Fend and Kelpie Snare to paralyze enemies while you poke them to death. If I've learned anything from my time here, it's that anything is Hell-able.

    Burrito Werewolf.

Dragon Tail Assassin using a spear or polearm! (I just think it would be cool)

I'm sensing a pattern. Why does there have to be so many fire immunes in hell?....oh....right.
