If I ditch a hireling, can I get that hireling back?

Let's say I drop a 15th level Act I hireling for a 17th level Act II hireling, then decide I don't like the Act II guy much.

Can I go back to Act I and get the same hireling back?

What about the equipment she's carrying?

no.
Just take your mercs gear , save it to your stash, try act 2 merc , ( who is the best for most buildings) , and if you want you can hire an act 1 merc again, and put her gear back.

If you replace her with act 2 merc and leave the gear on , you will lose the gear.

also, if you want that SAME hireling (with the name and all) back, that's highly improbable in my experience (although i only tried for like 10 minutes to get her back)...
