    Ideal hardcore duo team?

So, I'll keep it short and sweet. My friend and I are creating two new characters on HC classic to play through. Any suggestions on classes that would work well together? We'll be completely untwinked, playing almost exclusively with just the two of us.

Me and a friend played through Nightmare with a Barb / Sorc combo. I got Hydra and Orb. It was very versatile; the spell Hydra got us past lots of nasty situations and the Battle Orders helped us out alot, too. However, this was on 1.09, so I don't know how well it would work now.

Hydra/orb is still fairly effective but without some nice gear the hydra will be weak. Same goes for hydra/nova.

Sorry, meant to mention it earlier, but we aren't going to use a barbarian. Neither of us really like to play as them..lol.

Well, regardless of what you do choose, a Summoner, either Druid or Necromancer (I guess that a Zon would work. I doubt nothing after seeing Superdave. Maybe even a Sin with Shadow Master???) will make life easier. Tanking is good.

    Ohh, idea:
    Necro Summoner
    Paladin Cleric (with Concentration)

The cleric can get all those yummy resist auras and...stuff. Concentration for uber Skeleton pwnage. Holy Bolt for killing annoying unbreakable physical immunes. Hell, maybe even get Hammer, though at that point, with Conc + Hammer, you're pretty much a Hammerdin. But I think that would be cool...especially pump that Res Lightning for those damn Souls and...stuff.

I don't really know what Uber Skeleton Pwnage is. I've never witnessed it. But if I were you I'd just make a meteorb sorc and a hybrid zon. All of your elements covered. You're planning on doing hell, right?

Yeah, hell included. Right now we're possibly looking at hammerdin + meteorb sorc.

You could put a Wind Druid in there. Cold damage, physical damage, and oak sage make them very versatile, and possibly a good compliment for a Hammerdin (I wouldn't really know).

Hardcore classic. Let me repeat that, because it sounds vaguely important. Hardcore classic. My vote goes for summoner/javazon or summoner/support paly.

meteorb/hammerdin will work assuming synergies work in classic.
only problem with that is its not very safe, especially if youre new to hc.

[Hammerdin] + [anything that doesn't suck] will really do just fine. Top picks would be Summoner, Cold Sorc, Meteorb, WW Barb, maybe even Bowazon if you've got a sense of humor.

Classic is without druid & sin.

Since its only a duo team, then 1 has to be the shield while the other the sword.
There are some good combos already mentioned in some posts above.
    barb + sorc
summon nerco is good with any other char (sorc for element/ pala for aura/ barb for the cries)
Hammerdin(item dependent) + barb (for the insane def + high life)

Summoner will make the job easy for almost any other class, since the skellies and revives give a wide range of breathing room. But on the other hand, bosses will be tougher, since necro can't do much against those (except for curses for double-damage). IMO, necro/paladin and necro/sorc are solid choises and involve minimal risk. Paladin for beefing up the summons and dealing with the bosses, or a sorc for great all-around damage.

Barbarian would probably be the worst choise, since he would need to be pretty über to survive in the later difficulties and even though BO is nice, it does not mean everything for a necro, who will be staying behind the lines anyway. Druid and amazon are decend choises too, but paladin and sorc do the same job much faster. Same goes for assassin.

I'd say go for a summoner and either a Javazon, Meteorb Sorc or a Hammerdin. Personally I think Javazon or sorc would be the most fun combo though.

I feel a need to mention that Druid and Assasin don't exist in classic...

Along those lines, neither do charms, runes, sorc orbs (I believe, since I haven't seen any), or act 5. Not that people have mentioned those, I just felt the need to clarify things since it seems everyone keeps mentioning Druids and Assassins.

Otherwise, I'd say Wordplay is probably correct, and a summon-necro with either a Pally or Sorc would work well. An interesting path would be to have an Orb/Chanter. That way, all of the summons would actually have an attack, and the orb can get those pesky fire immunes. Fire/Cold immune? - blind them and run...
