Idea for the 5th Class: Shadow Mage

First of all, I want more magic in diablo3 so I would like one more Character that have cool spells, I really like the new character to be more evil and less heroic so I purpose a new character call shadow Mage.

Shadow Mage is a clan of wizard that practice dark magic. Once banned by the king, they are forced to live in the jungle outside the country. Hundreds of year living in the dark they learned how to use shadow to summon dark creatures and bugs to help them fight.

Shadow mages use shadow as a dark portal which they called swamp to summon dark creatures and buggish parasites that help them fight or distract enemies, they also use dark magic and shadow to enhance his melee attack. The Shadow Mage have three skill tree which are shadow swamp, mage power and dark Summon.
Shadow Mage can be both Melee and range depend on how you build it

Shadow Swamp:

Swamp shadow: Create a shadow swamp around you. This is a mana per second spell, the more mana you put in the larger the Swamp, and the area will become smaller when time goes on like fury, you have to keep killing to keep the swamp intact
Shadow Force send out a wave from the swamp that deal damage to enemies
Dark Cloud: Summon a dark shadow rain, deal damage regenerate shadow swamp
Spider Armor: An offensive armor that let you grow two more shadow hands to help you attack enemies.
Burrow: Hide under the swamp Allow fast health/Mana gen
Shadow teleport: Transform yourself into shadow, and let you teleport anywhere from the swamp.
Whirlpool: Create Whirlpool in the swamp, trap and deal damage to enemies. x% chance enemies drowned by the swamp (free kill)

Mage power:

Shadow Claw: like wizard Spectral Blade but with dark magic damage Critical hit infect wound with roaches deal extra damage
Guardian armor: Create a shadow armor guardian that help you defend
Shadow shield: (Passive) x% chance that automate create a shadow wall that block range attack
Slime Armor Jellow like armor absorbe magic damage
Dark Smoke: The shadow blow smoke to confuse enemies, make them to attack air or each other
Dark weapon: enhance wepon with dark magic Critical hit infect wound with roaches deal extra damage
Dark spear: Throw out a dark spear. CH curse enemies and attract creatures to attack him
Dark link: same as wizard Electrocutem but with dark energy instead of lighting
Shadow Aim (Passive): Increase attack rating for range attack when enemies is in the swamp
Shadow Link weapon: Create a shadow that link to your weapon, allow you to swing your weopon like a chain for rapid damage or range attack

Dark Summon:

Summon Shadow zombie: Summon shadow zombies that walk around the swamp attack enemy that went in.
Summon Mystic Creature: the creature's tentacles creep up from the shadow, grab enemies stomp it to the ground and throw them out of the swamp area. Multistrike rune stomp them a couple time before throwing them out.
Summon spider: Summon spider, they walk around the swamp create spider web to stop enemies' movement, they still can attack, but they can't move close to you
Shadow roaches (Passive): Create roaches from the swamp that leech enemies health and use it to regenerate the swamp.
Shadow strength (Passive): Increase strength from summon creature add damage and throw out larger enemies for the Octopus
Summon Zerg: a Mummy face surface from swamp open his mouth and spill out lots of zerg like creature to attack enemies
Summon Butcher Summon Butcher from D1 and have him do the killing (killing zombie this time)ar fresh meat


You can add more passive skill to compliment those skills

Now this character is nero like

I think this idea is really cool. This is one of the two forum character designs that I have thought were cool (the other being the ghost), and the only one of those two that i think will be doable in D3.

I think that the idea behind the character might be a bit cooler, though, if it were more like he opened portals to some nether region allowing these tentacles and buggish parasites and so on to seep through, and to do so he used dark magic. Having a tentacles come from a nether region seems cooler to me than an octopus, especially as their source would be on the other side of the portal. Maybe at high levels, these creatures could even come fully through the portal. Also, making it a portal would allow you to set your spells up on more than just the ground; you could do it over your enemies head or behind him/her as he/she retreats.

In any case, awesome originality.

Glad you like it. Thanks for the input. I really like the idea of using the shadow as a portal rather than just a swamp, more creepy never thought of it orginally. Also echo from another post I saw in the forum, I really like the idea that level up skill should have more visual, to make the game more enjoyable. and Yes I like the fact that the more level up, you will see the creature whole form instead of just an arm. I just incorperate some of your idea and make the changes, want more feedback before making this a fan class thank you.

It'd be sweet if enemies that died while on the swamp had their bodies pulled into it by some kind of black tentacle or arm-like mechanism granting mana back to the caster.

Overall great ideas...very innovative!

sounds almost like a necromancer in summoning. The shadow swamp sounds awesome!
