I think my comps dead.

I turned on my older PII 400mhz computer yesterday as i often do but it makes a noise: beeeeeeeep..........................beeeeeeeeeeep.........................beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep and so on.
Nothing happens, i can't hear it loding and the monitor does nothing.
I've checked all the connections and they appear to be fine.
I don't know why this has happened, just thought one of you guys might know.
