Billy, most people make assumptions. Most assumptions are false without hard evidence to back it up... yes, if you want to be a smart arse, this is one. I have faith that Phantom is not a cheater. Even if he is I've never had a problem with him being an arse, so he's a pretty nice guy. Perhaps Shade and the rest simply made friends with some BM people and like them beyond the hack using? I don't see any other point in playing besides having fun with friends, so I'd join a hack-using clan to be with people who are fun and make the game fun for me, morality aside.

Just remember it all began with maphack so essentially maphack spawned all the evil that is known to D2. If there were no maphack there would be no bots because it was made with maphack as it's backbone. Or maybe we should just blame it on human innovation? Man invents to help him with his tasks and thats just what these hacks do they help the player achieve their goal. Heh anyone remember the gamble hack back in Classic besides me? Some good times back in the Classic days reminiscing is so great.

edit: sorry dupes were not spawned by maphack, Diablo (as in super old awsome Diablo) dupeing was as simple as clicking so in Diablo 2 of course ppl wanted to be able to dupe .

Blame Techwarrior for everything, it's quite clearly his two that started it all!

*Can't remember if gamble hack was before or after the maphack actually, I'm pretty sure that Dagger's dupe method was before though, which as far as I can recall was the first public dupe, although not the first dupe.

EDIT: And after reading more than the first line of your post, no MH wasn't built on either of Tech's hacks, but it was tech who showed everyone, quite clearly, that not everything was server side.

Also, I'm not sure that bots where built on the backbone of MH, blame d2hackit for that, bots are rather packet sending/sniffing based, pretty sure MH isn't.
